About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
The 10th-anniversary edition of the game-changing number one New York Times best seller, featuring a new foreword.
For more than a decade, Brené Brown has found a special place in our hearts as a gifted mapmaker and a fellow traveller. She is both a social scientist and a kitchen-table friend whom you can always count on to tell the truth, make you laugh and, on occasion, cry with you. And what's now become a movement all started with The Gifts of Imperfection, which has sold more than two million copies in 35 different languages across the globe.
What transforms this audiobook from written word to effective daily practices are the 10 guideposts to wholehearted living. The guideposts not only help us understand the practices that will allow us to change our lives and families, they also walk us through the unattainable and sabotaging expectations that get in the way.
Brené writes, 'This book is an invitation to join a wholehearted revolution. A small, quiet, grassroots movement that starts with each of us saying, "My story matters because I matter." Revolution might sound a little dramatic, but in this world, choosing authenticity and worthiness is an absolute act of resistance.'

The pain of shame
I liked the breakdown of concepts ,things we don't even realise are holding us back. I think it reads really true in so many aspects of life ,how we live in shame, forget to play and how we get triggered

Wisdom
Loved this book when it first came out, love it even more with this 10th anniversary edition read by Brene Brown herself. Thought-provoking, grounded in research and wrapped in personal reflections, it's useful and practical - without being simplistic.

A great listen, worth your time!
We try to be perfect by wanting to impress others, we are bought up like this that we are always competing to be better, what is more important is being yourself, living your life to your means, accepting your imperfections and shining in the world!

An essential book to read for any recovering perfectionist
Absolutely love this book. It really feels as if Brene is talking specifically about me and my personal struggles. The only bit I struggled with is the, admittedly small amount, of religious content. Being an atheist, I found this hard but I still absolutely see the importance of spirituality. It’s just a different type of spirituality for me. Does not change my thoughts towards how important and life changing this book is however! Brene = legend.
