About this listen
A gay romance of heartfelt passion between an older married man and exuberant younger chef—a chance meeting that changes their lives.
At some point in every man’s life, he begins to reflect on his youth, his virility, his existence. Sometimes, he longs for a time when he was sexual, virile, on top of his game. Phillip had reached that point with a stagnant marriage, a dry life, until he took a moment for himself, until he found a solitary island and some private time for him. It was a moment that changed him forever—a moment when he met a young man who sparked something deep inside, an erotic world he'd never considered. It reawakened his youth and showed him his capacity for love, his joy of life. He experienced a Moment in Paradise.

The audiobook was narrated by Ed Waldorph narrated the audiobook. He’s a new-to-me narrator and it took me a chapter to find my stride with his vocal performance. Ed voiced Philip wonderfully and was a great choice for this book. The audiobook production was well done.

Trigger warning: cheating
I have never before loved a book and yet wanted to throw my kindle across the room so badly.
This was short and sweet with great characters with fabulous chemistry and tons of steam. The writing was great minus some editing flaws and the world building was wonderful. I want to go there and play with Feix. I just wasn't mentally prepared for it to end, despite the very telling title.
The narrator had a decent reading voice and was age appropriate for the Phillip character but it was just an average performance. Not a whole lot of emotion was expressed and there was no variation in the 2 characters voices. I also had to speed it way up due to the author reading very slowly and monotone so I wouldn't fall asleep.
I need a part 2 like yesterday 😩

When you need a break from your life, you head off on holiday to an almost deserted island. What comes next? Oh yes, a bi-awakening and a cheating husband. And a good book to listen to.
However, I did need to speed up the audio to 1.45 to enjoy the narration, as I found the narrator very slow and monotoned.

Now, I love older protagonists. The optimism that there’s hope for us nearing that decade. That we might meet someone. And Phillip meeting someone was, of course, the point of the story. Just…okay, he’s cheating on his wife. This is made plain in the synopsis, so I’m not giving anything away. What I will say is that it disturbed me that no condoms appeared and there was no discussion about status. I live in the real world where diseases are a thing and I was uncomfortable that Phillip was having unprotected sex with a stranger and then, perhaps, returning to his wife. And yes, I understand that safe sex is awkward in a place where bathing suits are optional, but I wish they had been part of the story. Also…no lube? Ever? Ouch.
But if you’re willing to suspend those issues, this is a lovely book. The ending was just about perfect, the narration was well done, and I enjoyed it.
Enjoyable read but…
