About this listen
Sometimes life gives you lemons. Other times it gives you bodacious alien babes.
Alexander S. Ryker has decided to let Gabrielle continue living with him, despite now knowing that she is the daughter to the Emperor of the Galaxy. Whether this was a sound decision remains to be seen. Between the two of them constantly making inventions that explode, the sexy situations that he invariably winds up, and a host of alien suitors who wish for Gabrielle’s hand in marriage—and who are willing to do anything to get it—
The life of a wannabe hero is never easy.
©2017 Bandon Varnell (P)2024 Royal Guard Publishing LLCThe first volume brags about having a better protagonist than TLR but I find the little t*rd more frustrating than TLR's Yuuki Rito.
Alex Ryker has a very irritating view of his own sexuality, chastising himself for "objectifying" women he's attracted to in one part of the book and at many parts he's feels aggressive tendencies towards guys who are openly expressing sexual interest in women (not harassing them, just talking about finding women hot.) Perhaps this will be a flaw his character will Iron out as his story progresses, but right now it comes across as him being kind of a preachy twit and makes the first volume's promise of a better protagonist than TLR a bit presumptuous.
The same kind of humor in TLR is employed, any scene that gets hot n' heavy in the story will result in a character interrupting. Perhaps character romance will progress in this series and characters will actually go all the way which would be a good change from TLR but considering the current length of this series I wouldn't be too surprised if no actual sex has taken place in the 9 volumes so far.
Tl;Dr, I enjoyed it, will keep reading but too similar to TLR to really recommend, if you had to choose between reading this or the To Love Ru manga, read TLR.
Better than Vol1 but still...
