About this listen
When trying to save a woman from slavers, Sam screwed up. Royally. Now Linda wants nothing to do with him. Or with BDSM. She won't even admit she's a masochist. As a dominant and sadist, he can give her what she needs, and when an opportunity arises he slips into her life, intending to make amends. She's everything he knew she would be...except for her bullheaded determination to be "normal".
Now that the horrible time is past, Linda just wants to return to her small conservative town, pick up her quiet life, and be normal. But how can someone who likes pain be "normal"? To her dismay, when someone spray-paints her home with obscenities, Sam shows up to rescue her. Again. Doesn't he understand that the last thing she needs in her life is a sadist? He's amused by her objections. But his dry sense of humor doesn't disguise that he's tough as nails and dominant and stubborn. He's not going to let her drive him off this time. All too soon she realizes she wants him to stay.
When he takes her to the Shadowlands, she finds a new home. Until she hears a voice from out of her nightmares....

A listen again and again
The voices fit the characters I had previously read about so well. It all becomes real and the listener is included.

A love story for an older couple! Gorgeous!!!
What did you like most about This Is Who I Am?
I love that this is an older couple who have already tried to live their lives to various degrees of success. Sam has been deeply hurt in a prior marriage as has his daughter , Linda had a great husband whom she loved but who also did not fulfill her (when she was honest with herself). This is Sam and Linda's story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of This Is Who I Am?
I can't say as it will give too much away but it involves Sam and his whip....not doing what you imagine with it either but it's toward the end to give you a hint!!!!
Have you listened to any of Noah Michael Levine and Erin deWard ’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Since I have listened to all of the other books in this series then yes! I loved this book as much as the others although I have to say that Marcus' and Raoul's stories are both firm favourites!!
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I had a range of emotional responses to this story. Anger at the slavers and their belief in how worthless a human life can be...yes I know this is a story but if you do not believe that human trafficking exists then your head is in the sand. I also felt heart-sore for Linda who struggled to be the perfect mother, business woman and refuse to give in to 'silly wants and desires that she didn't really need'. She felt she had to hold up to some level of social norm and make do. I also laughed at times but I don't want to give too much away by telling you when!!
Any additional comments?
Sam and Linda met in circumstances that were far from usual but nonetheless it is a beautiful story of love, respect, bravery and tenacity. Linda struggles with accepting her needs and the stigma associated with what she needs is horrendous. Just when she figures she knows what to expect, someone surprises her and shows tolerance and acceptance when she needs it most. This is a story of cruelty, bullies and love....who or what prevails? You'll have to listen to find out but I promise you will not be disappointed. I cannot wait for the rest of her books to be transferred into audio format...please hurry!!!!

Brilliant entertainment!!
I have really enjoyed all of the series books and I think I have fallen in love with every single one of the masters and shadowlands along with their wonderful subs. I wasnt sure how I was going to feel about Master Sam as he is a hard core sadist and when we have encountered him before at the club i wasnt sure about him. However Cherise did it again - and im in love with yet another Shadowlands Master.
These stories are so rich in emotion and depth that I struggle to put them down once I have started and the narrators of them make it even harder!!!
Totally loved it!!
