يُجسّد العقّاد في رواية "سارة" الحالة النفسيّة لبطلها بأسلوبٍ احترافيّ، يتحدّث فيه عن إحدى تجاربه العاطفيّة المؤلمة، والّتي تركت أثرًا بالغًا في قلبه، كما أنّ رواية "سارة"، هي الرواية الوحيدة للعقّاد.
والعقّاد هو عباس محمود العقاد؛ أديب، وشاعر، ومؤرّخ ، وفيلسوف مصريّ، كرّسَ حياته للأدب، كما أنّه صحفيٌّ له العديد من المقالات، وقد لمع نجمه في الأدب العربيّ الحديث، وبلغ مرتبةً رفيعة.
ولد العقاد في محافظة أسوان سنة 1889، في أسرةٍ بسيطة الحال، فاكتفى بالتّعليم الابتدائيّ، ولكنّه لم يتوقّف عن سعيه الذّاتيّ للعلم والمعرفة، فقرأ الكثير من الكتب.
وقد ألّف ما يزيد على مئة كتاب، وتُعدّ كتب العبقريّات من أشهر مؤلّفاته.
توفّي سنة 1964، تاركًا خلفه ميراثًا أدبيًّا زاخرًا.
