About this listen

Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

Read it...or don't

This book has made me interested in classical history, when every move was critical to your power and often your survival too. Humans inherently become amoral when they decide to become effective. You're a member of this species, so learn these principles; play or be played.

Robert Greene strikes again!

After finishing The Laws of Human Nature, I decided to check out the rest of his works and proceeded to read 48 Laws of Power. I highly recommend this book, it's not something you can read only once but I already see positive changes in my behavior and the way I handle certain situations. I loved the narrator too!

Very helpful

As a person who I am not very good with getting my ideas across, or not offending people this book has being a real help. As other reviews say, the examples are old but I find them quite interesting as it give a bit of knowledge of the past as well.

AMAZING BOOK!!!

Great book especially about the stories, alot to learn about human behaviour and the good thing about the law is that you can use them for your advantage or be aware of people applying to you the law.

Great book!

I have listened this whole book on a long plane journey and I felt the moment I got off the plane, I was a different person. It makes me stronger, able to withdraw emotion from unnecessary distractions.

Exhilarating

For every power play there is a subtle reverse. Meaning that sheep such as we are can arm ourselves against the megalomaniacs. Fascinating stuff.

Sound advice, well performed.

Every law is well explained with examples of transgressions and observations of each. Don't take it as gospel though.

Useful if you're competant, bossed by incompetent.

Really enjoyed this book.

Better than Mastery I think.

You will have your mind set at rest and understanding if you've ever worked in the low to mid ranks of a corporation and had superiors above you clearly less competant.

They are not less competent in the overall sense. They deploy the laws in this book better than you.

Good for those unwise in the ways of the world

Fantastic book. I think it should be essential reading for young people, or those who are still unfortunately naiive about the nature of people well into their adulthood. Even just by knowing of, and understanding the laws discussed in this book, you have already exponentially increased your chances of getting along well in life.
