Summary

Robert Kiyosaki's new audiobook 8 Lessons in Military Leadership for Entrepreneurs draws from his years at the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point and his service in the United Sates Marine Corps. With compelling stories and examples and an engaging way of comparing and contrasting two very different cultures and value systems, Robert shares the challenges he faced in transitioning to civilian life: where chain of command and team-over-self - once so black and white - were muddy and distorted. "Permission to speak freely, sir?" Count on it. This is Robert Kiyosaki - and he does just that, in the forthright and no-nonsense style that listeners have come to expect and appreciate.

From Robert's perspective, military training shapes lives and supports entrepreneurship. The training, discipline, and leadership skills taught in the military can be leveraged for huge success in the civilian world of business.

Highlights of 8 Lessons in Military Leadership for Entrepreneurs include sections on Mission and Team, Discipline, Respect, Authority, Speed, the Power of Connectivity, Leaders as Teachers, and Sales and Leadership.

Good tips but repetitive.

Ever seen that episode of Friends where Joey is talking about giving his speech at Monica and Chandlers wedding....the loving and having and giving and receiving one?....yeah, that book is a bit like that, if you listen you'll know.

That said, some good tips but could have probably been a third less in length and still get the message across.

A great advert for what the military gives a person

Positives: military leadership is often thought to be totally different I civilian leadership due to the nature of the military (questioning seemingly not being allowed, having subordinates that must follow orders etc) but this book really draws it loads of interesting relevant parallels that cross the divide.

Negatives: Slightly hard to discern the 8 lessons as part of the audio version and there is a lot of cross over with his other books.

Disappointed

More of a right-wing Americo-centric polemic than an interesting book. I should have researched the author (and found out about his unethical past) before wasting my resources and time
