About this listen
Attics can be full of surprises. Who could have murdered Darren Powell? He was a very pleasant man fond of puttering around in his garden and playing chess. He didn't seem at all the type of person who'd find himself murdered in his own attic. Myrtle and her senior sidekick Miles step in to investigate. The more they learn about Darren, the more interesting he becomes. And now someone else might be in danger. Can they learn the killer's identity before he strikes again?

Fed up with always losing at scrabbling with ex English teacher Myrtle, Miles turns his hand to chess. Hopefully practicing with novice Myrtle means he can get back into winning form and play against his friend, Darren. But when Darren phones Miles it seems he has more on his mind than chess, he found some old newspaper clipping he wants to share. When Miles and Myrtle arrive at his house they find no sign of him, until Miles ventures into his attic and finds his dead body. Who would want him dead?and why? Could it be connected with the newspaper clipping? Or the previous treasure he found in the attic that made him a rich man. Miles and Myrtle set out to find out.
I liked the narrator. She used her voice well to provide different sounding characters up and down the age spectrum.
