Summary
Audible Studios presents a brand new recording of Charles Dickens' timeless seasonal story A Christmas Carol, performed by Hugh Grant.
First published in 1843, it tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a mean and unpleasant man who dislikes people generally and Christmas especially.
One Christmas Eve he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come and given a glimpse of the many homes and lives which Scrooge has touched in his wretched life to date. After their visits, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man.

Perfect tier 4 escapism
Hugh’s performance was electric!
Released at the perfect time. As soon as tier 4 news struck at 4pm, I yearned for escapism and this was the most fitting remedy.
Let it not escape our memories that this was the book Corbyn said he’d gift to Boris for Christmas last year... There’s something very serendipitous about that as Hugh valiantly campaigns in favour of socialist politics and values. I hope the message of this exquisite masterpiece penetrates the minds of the majority this Christmas - let compassion, empathy, solidarity and kindness fill our hearts.

Wonderful reading of this Christmas classic
I admit I love the stories of Charles Dickens, and a Christmas Carol is one of my favourites so I was probably half way to the five star review anyway .... but Hugh Grant has taken it to a whole new level. Listening to it has given me a new understanding of the story. It was great that this version included parts that the films tend to leave out, so there are less familiar elements, which I found rounded out the story as Dickens had intended. I shall certainly listen to this again next Christmas...... and I hope Hugh Grant reads more of the Dickens classics because he has such a way of reading that the story is made clear. Brilliant.

Absolutely wonderful
At the ripe old age of thirty two I have finally taken the plunge and read my first ever work by Charles Dickens. He's an author I had wanted to try for a good long time and I can honestly say that it was well worth the wait.
A Christmas Carol is THE Christmas story that pretty much everyone, whether they've read it or not, is familiar with. Familiar though I was, I was still pleasantly surprised by how well-written it was and how much of it I didn't actually know from my pop-culture education of this story.
Dickens wit is wonderful and the way he brings not only characters, but places to life through his vivid descriptions and lovely turns of phrase left me absolutely miserable that this was so short a piece. His wit was not the only high point, that was shared by how much of a tear-jerker he can turn a piece of writing into. He did a good job of making the reader, myself at least, feel a whole range of emotions across the length of the story.
More Dickens in my future, I hope.
Hugh Grant did a wonderful job as narrator, so good in fact that, at times, I forgot there was only one person doing the narration. His vocal range is brilliant and he really served to add a new dimension to the already well-fleshed out characters in A Christmas Carol.
