Summary

What do you get when you cross a cursed bookshop, three hot fictional men, and a punk rock heroine nursing a broken heart?

After being fired from her fashion internship in New York City, Mina Wilde decides it's time to reevaluate her life. She returns to the quaint English village where she grew up to take a job at the local bookshop, hoping that being surrounded by great literature will help her heal from a devastating blow.

But Mina soon discovers her life is stranger than fiction - a mysterious curse on the bookshop brings fictional characters to life in lust-worthy bodies. Mina finds herself babysitting Poe's raven, making hot dogs for Heathcliff, and getting IT help from James Moriarty, all while trying not to fall for the three broken men who should only exist within her imagination.

When Mina's ex-best friend shows up dead with a knife in her back, she's the chief suspect. She'll have to solve the murder if she wants to clear her name. Will her fictional boyfriends be able to keep her out of prison?

Contains mature themes.

Magical murder mystery

This very British murder mystery was a lot of fun. We get some magic, shifters, delicious tension and some spice towards the end too. Best of all all male main characters are fictional characters( morally grey book boyfriends 😍). And, to top it all off the main setting for this is a British, old bookshop.
Discovering secrets and solving the murder was really great and I loved the narration.

A fun listen!

Possibly my favourite book series currently! (I have just finished book 4 at this point)
A nice murder mystery setup, fun characters, just a nice enjoyable read/listen. There's drama and plot twists, but not in a stressful way! Good amount of spice, and it ramps up as the series progresses. I can see myself re-reading this cosy series. I really enjoy the narrator too!
My only problem is the occasional instance when you can tell the author isn't a brit 😅 wrong brand names or customs, it's not too common, but a bit distracting when it pops up!

Loved it

I loved the book so was really happy to add the audiobook to my library. A cozy mystery RH with a touch of the paranormal (Brits - think midsommer murders) with some great characters, some of the most hillarious one liners I've read and the narrator has the most perfect accent for Mina

The grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one

cheeky/confident/suave one

Oh dear

The story line was original and had the potential to be brilliant, but sadly it didn’t get off the ground . The characters were very underdeveloped and so was the story, it was predictable and the chemistry between the characters was drawn out and underplayed. I have seldom ever been so disappointed what a waste of my time , such a shame

nothing happens

Finally given up at chapter 8 and literally nothing has happened.

The narrator is irritating.

The character interactions are like a high schooler retelling of an event.

Not for me.
