Summary
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book three in her beloved Flesh and Fire series…
The only thing that can save the realms now is the one thing more powerful than the Fates.
After a startling betrayal ends with both Sera and the dangerously seductive ruler of the Shadowlands she has fallen madly in love with being held captive by the false King of the Gods, there is only one thing that can free Nyktos and prevent the forces of the Shadowlands from invading Dalos and igniting a War of Primals.
Convincing Kolis won’t be easy, though–not even with a lifetime of training. While his most favored Revenant is insistent that she is nothing more than a lie, Kolis’s erratic nature and twisted sense of honor leave her shaken to the core, and nothing could’ve prepared her for the cruelty of his Court or the shocking truths revealed. The revelations not only upend what she has understood about her duty and the very creation of the realms but also draw into question exactly what the true threat is. However, surviving Kolis is only one part of the battle. The Ascension is upon her, and Sera is out of time.
But Nyktos will do anything to keep Sera alive and give her the life she deserves. He’ll even risk the utter destruction of the realms, and that’s exactly what will happen if he doesn’t Ascend as the Primal of Life. Yet despite his desperate determination, their destinies may be out of their hands.
But there is that foreseen unexpected thread—the unpredictable, unknown, and unwritten. The only thing more powerful than the Fates…

A bit too much internal dialogue …
There was some good character development , but I was disappointed with how much of the story was Sera talking/thinking to herself .
The story at large didn’t evolve much compared to previous books , and I’m left wishing more had actually happened .
There were some useful context holes filled and interesting new characters … but I really hope for more action in future books!

Damn
I laughed. I cried. My heart was racing needing to know what happens but DESPERATELY not wanting this book to end. For my own sanity, I should have paced myself cause I know the wait for the next instalment is going to be pure torture.

Way too much of talk and repetitiveness
A nice continuation of the story of Sara and Ash but a lot of the story is repetition and a also a lot of focus on the Love matter between them. Would have preferred more action and development in the story.

I wanted to love it like the others but didn’t quite…
The first half of the book is very drawn out & practically has no Nyktos! The second half is really good & kind of makes up for it. It finishes very sweetly im very much looking forward to the next / last book in the series concluding but also sad it will be over!

Way too long
If you cut about 3rd of the book it would be great. Too repetitive and disappointing ending. Anti climax at the end after all these hours.

Another favourite by JLA
When Fire in the Flesh parallel series came out along side FBAA, I was so pleasantly surprised, Sera and Nyktos quickly became my favorite couple.
With every new addition to their story I fell for them more and more. I feel that with this latest one I am now just so pleased for them.
It was a great decision on JLA part not to rush the story and add even more to this 600+ pages book just to end on the originally planned trilogy. I loved getting those last chapters. Unrushed. Just pure literally pleasure and Stina’s amazing performance.
What also really surprised and made this book one of JLA strongest is how she wrote Kolis. To come into this story only having pure hate for him and then become in moments torn between feeling sorry for him and hating him all over again was a constant fight in my head. It was so well written. You can really tell JLA took her time fleshing out what makes up what I feel is either a psychopath or a sociopath. Or both. Just such strong writing.
All in all - fantastic. As always. Cant wait to see the end to both of the story lines.

Gods of war meets Pornhub
Great story, except alot of details of sex. Sits I'm my car with my son and it starts to describe how he finger her in details... Do not need this in a story about god's and war... Got other places for that..

Loving these two
In some respect I wish I had read this prequel series first because I know some of the main characters story and therefore it's not a huge relief or disappointment when something happens because you know the direction it has to go in to get to the original series. Really loving the characters in these stories and although I can't wait for the last in this storyline I will be sad for it to end.

A lot of words for not much
I like the story of these books but I get bored of the internal waffling and reoccurring conversations. Seems like this book could have been half as long and still as good.
