About this listen

A murder of an Icelandic man during a Full Cold Moon reminds Lauren Riley of a previous case she failed to solve. She is determined not to let it happen again.

Since her partner on the Cold Case team has been out of action after being shot in the line of duty, Lauren Riley has been working Homicide. Her latest case involves an Icelandic man murdered on the streets of Buffalo mere feet from his hotel.

The brutality of the case hits Lauren hard. When she realizes the murder was committed on the night of a Full Cold Moon, it triggers memories of the first cold case she investigated that she’s been unable to solve.

Lauren is determined not to fail again but when she is involved in a shooting with a suspect, she finds the case may be taken out of her hands...especially when it gains attention from the Icelandic government.

Easy listen

I’m writing the same for all four books as I read them one after the other but didn’t review immediately which is my usual practice. And I can’t actually recall them in detail!

They were just easy listens. Not taxing. Slightly unbelievable but I read all four so that says something. The narrator is a favourite of mine which is what drew me to the author.

Good story awful narration

Ughhh I’ve listened to all of the books in this series so far and I’m done.
The stories are great but the writing is a bit twee and to be honest a good narrator would struggle as a result.
This narrator though is horrible. I’m wondering if she’s even an actor. It’s like amateur dramatics central. She over pronounces every syllable and emits emotion for every word thereby robbing the whole thing of every ounce of character and meaning. It’s like finger nails down a blackboard. It’s a shame because the plots are great and if the narration was better I’d probably persevere with the twee prose. I can forgive the awful accents. That’s a hard ask if her, but not the rest of it. I’ll be avoiding this narrator in future.
