Excellent - full marks for the story and the narration. I've never heard of Derek Robinson before but the plot and characterisation is wonderful, similar to Len Deighton's 'City of Gold' and 'Goodbye Mickey Mouse' Written from the viewpoint of different protagonists whose paths cross and re-cross - British, German and Italian - most of whom are barking mad ("it's the war y'know,...,"). With dialogue is in the finest tradition of British squaddie humour although inevitably the eventual winner is the desert. No spoilers from me but I hope my favourite character reappears in another Robinson novel. I loved it. Should be made into a film. Look forward to listening to more Robinson novels with the same narrator.

What made the experience of listening to A Good Clean Fight the most enjoyable?

The atmosphere created both by the author and the narrator. The descriptive narration of the action with great detail of individual relationships add greater depth to the overall story.

What did you like best about this story?

\the politics of the three basic units in the efforts to succeed, The German Intelligence, the SAS and the Desert Air Force

What about Michael Tudor Barnes’s performance did you like?

The atmosphere he created in the various areas of the story line. His voice control and change in tempo bought the story alive.

This is almost classic Derik Robinson, a wonderful tale of war between men and war against the desert as well as the emotions of men in battle. Truly a very good read.

Can’t believe just how silly this is , just a load of “ a mans got to do what a mans got to do “it’s so dated you can hear John Mills trotting out every cliche from films made seventy years ago so unless you’re cringe worthiness is dead you need to give this a miss .

it seem like a nice setting for a good story, ww2, north africa, commandos and fighter planes. What could go wrong? Wrll a crazy amount of dialogue between disillusioned and sarcastic men. As soon as a woman enters the story either it takes a just a few minutes until she is in bed with one of the male characters, or she is a wife close to divorse. Unfailingly, the man about to be divorsed mutters over his drink:"I want to murder her". I did not finish this book, afraid that some if this toxic masculinity would rub off on me. Another thing, if a squadron og P40s take off to do some ground straffing of the german afrika korps and they find their targets and shoot them to pieces, I want some detailed description of the destruction going on. This is part if what I want from a fictional ww2 story. Very little of it. An antickimax after listening to the angry men talking for a long time, even the action of a fighter ground attack is unsatisfactory.
