Summary

A prickly mage has me under his spell, and I think I kinda like it.

The first time I met him, I knew I was in trouble, but I hadn’t known just how much. I hadn’t been looking for a relationship, hadn’t wanted one, but it seems that a stubborn little mage did it for me because he’s impossible to resist.

When the NHSO goes on a manhunt for an unregistered mage, I can tell it’s upsetting for Mads and Jude. It’s upsetting for me, too, but even more so when I find out exactly why Mads is so worried about this kid. The more I find out about Madeo’s past and his world, the more I realize how special he is. No one who’s gone through what he has should come out the other side sane, let alone as kindhearted as him. I just hope he wants this thing between us to continue as badly as I do. And I want it to. Bad.

A Kiss to Revive Me is a 30K-word MM urban-fantasy novella and meant to be enjoyed after The Scars That Bind Us (The Magi Accounts, Book 1). It’s from Cosmo's perspective and takes place between books 1 and 2 of the main series. This is a companion novella, not a stand-alone or the start of a new series.

Great addition to the series

The first book in this series was entirely from Madeo’s point of view. That made sense – he was the magi. This in-between book is from his lover’s perspective, Cosmo. Cosmo’s a lion shifter, making their mage/shifter alliance a challenge. Both are the ‘other’, but both have different rungs on the social ladder. It was heartbreaking to hear the pain and suffering afflicted upon the magi.

This story is a quickie – whetting my appetite for the next book in the series. And I got to know Cosmo a bit better as well. Their team is tasked to track down a previously unknown magi teenager. But Madeo knows what they’ll do to the kid if they send him to the magi academy. He needs to do something – but that could wind up their entire team in a heap of trouble.

I don’t want to give away too much – but I loved how the dénouement unfolded. And I can’t wait for the next big book. C.J. Storm gave a great performance and I hope he’s the narrator on the next book as well. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Amazing

Another great story by Michele Notaro. Cosmo and Mads are amazing to follow. The bonds grow stronger and i can not wait for book 2. CJ Storm did a super job with the narration.

Enjoyed the Story

A Kiss to Revive Me is a short novella following book one of the Magi Accounts series. Book one isn’t necessary to read before this novella, but I highly recommend it in order to fully enjoy the book.

This novella overlaps a little bit with The Scars that Bind Us, but it’s all from Cosmo’s perspective which adds depth to the overall story. Getting to know Cosmo more intimately as we follow events through his eyes was interesting and made me love Cosmo even more. The world Cosmo and Mads live in is hard and unfair, but their determination and spirit to overcome is beautiful.

The audiobook was narrated by CJ Storm who does a great job. I really like CJ’s voice and he really makes the story feel alive. The audiobook production was well done.

I loved it!

I really loved this audiobook! It was great having Cosmo's POV, but even better were the details of his and Mads growing relationship. I really felt like I got to know them personally much more than I did in book 1. I felt like we really got inside their minds (especially Cosmo). Although shorter, it felt more in-depth than book 1. I loved the rescue of the undocumented mage, too. And all the fun banter was just ❤❤❤.

The narrator does a great job with the emotions and snark in this series.

Loved it so much!

It was a delight this glimpse in Cosmo's feelings and thoughts about Madeo. The plot is captivating and the new characters are the perfect addition to their lives. Regarding the narration, I enjoyed a lot Mr Storm's performance with his nice voice and great acting skills. I can't wait for more in this dystopian world! Loved it so much!

Intriguing

You should read The Scars That Bind Us beforehand, as this novella directly follows it. The story is told from Cosmo's point of view. I liked very much how he described his relationship with Madeo and their development. But also the search for the young, unregistered mage was interesting.
I actually like longer stories better, because they are told more profoundly. But here the author managed to weave in enough details so that you have enough plot and still stay close to the characters. The story fascinated me, the fate of the mage is fierce and what you learned about Madeo's past is not for the faint of heart.
I'm already looking forward to more volumes!

CJ Storm's narration was brilliant and a pleasure to listen to. He brought the characters to life with his acting skills.

Loved the alternate perspective

I loved getting to see things from Cosmo's perspective in this novella. We learn more about Mads' past and there is plenty of plot as the team searches for a young mage. I hope we get more of these side novellas in this series to flesh out the characters, give us different perspectives and some nice adventures in addition to those in the main series books. The performance by CJ Storm effectively brought the characters to life and kept me absorbed in the story.

Aww Cos!!

I loved getting to see the world from Cos' perspective and see the comparisons between a shifters world view and a magi's. I love Cos, Mads and the whole family and can't wait for more!!!!

Anther engaging chapter of Cosmo and Madeo's story

The more I learn about the horrific treatment of shifters and magi in this world, the more desperate I am to see Cosmo and Madeo break free from it all. In some ways, this novella was more lighthearted than the first full length story, but in others it was a heartbreaking reminder of how much trauma these amazingly strong individuals have already been through. I thought Evan's rescue plotline was an engaging way to bring the pride into the mission of the Cloaked Freeway, and though I knew all the shifters would be thrilled to help the cause, it still warmed my heart to see them follow through. I also enjoyed getting to view Madeo and Cosmo's relationship through Cosmo's eyes for a change, and I loved that we got to revisit Cosmo and Madeo's initial meeting to see what it was like for the shifters in that moment. The romantic bits of this story were still overwhelmingly hurt/comfort, and I can tell that Madeo and Cosmo still have a long way to go before they'll be able to fully relax into their feelings for each other. That didn't make their little affectionate gestures and heartfelt conversations any less meaningful, and just knowing how happy Cosmo and Madeo are when they're together has me fully convinced their love is going to be epic. While the storyline of this novella ended in a satisfying happy ending, I'm already eagerly awaiting the next book in this series so I can explore what's next for Madeo, Jude, and the Ono-Nai pride.
