Summary

Available for the first time as an audiobook in this original Outlander novella, Diana Gabaldon reveals what really happened to Roger MacKenzie Wakefield’s parents. Orphaned during World War II, Roger believed that his mother died during the London Blitz, and that his father, an RAF pilot, was killed in combat. But in An Echo in the Bone, Roger discovers that this may not be the whole story. Now, in "A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows," readers finally learn the truth.

Prawie doskonale

It is an interesting tying up of loose ends. I won't put any spoilers here but I just thought where Jeremiah goes in Echo in the Bone could be somewhere vastly different, and that he ends up riding either pterodactyls or flying saucers.

The actuality is more prosaic but still has pathos, beauty and perhaps too much brevity.

Great short story

This was an interesting journey through the stones and I enjoyed the author’s notes at the start and finish

slightly contradicting main books

first time where it's been contradicting main books. Dialogues seem somewhat different from the ones in the main book

Love this

I've read all the Outlander books so far and now filling in with the by-story novellas. I really enjoyed this one!
Only negative I can think of was it was too short (although told the required story)

Not as good as the Outlander novels

Would you listen to A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows again? Why?

Yes, because it is part of the Outlander Saga

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I am a devotee of Diana Gabaldon but was disappointed in this novelette. Jerry didn't do much when he went through the stones except wander about a bit. You never really got hold of a decent threadline either in the past or the present.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Possibly

Disappointed

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who has not read the Outlander series because their expectations would be much lower. The Outlander series is exceptionally good both in the detail of the writing and in the various plots.

Would you ever listen to anything by Diana Gabaldon again?

Definately. This is the first time I have been disappointed.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Not at all.

What character would you cut from A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows?

Only one main character so without him there would be no book.

Any additional comments?

Lacked the class, detail and everything I have come to expect from Diana Gabaldon. Actually I find it difficult to believe that she really wrote this.
