Summary
Orphaned during World War II, Roger MacKenzie Wakefield believed that his mother died during the London Blitz, and that his father, an RAF pilot, was killed in combat. But this may not be the whole story.

Missing pieces
Nice to find out what really happened to Roger's parents. A glance into Jerry's and Margot's life, filling in the gap of Roger's very early childhood.

Absolutely amazing details ...
Very informative as let's you know the story behind his father's disappearance, it is a short story compared to the novel, Would be an idea to put the short stories all together as a box set..

It was certainly worth listening to.
Though some of the facts /story line differs from the main books, it was well worth listening to.

Very nice ‘bulge’ filler ...
Only just starting to read the novellas, and I was fascinated to learn more about what made Jerry Mackenzie tick, and his personality as well as what exactly happened to him. And of course the crossover bit. i do have an issue with the narration tho, spoiled after Davina Porter but I don’t think I’d like this narrator even if he was reading other books than Outlander related. My personal opinion, obvs, others might think differently.
But story good, of course.

Wonderful, as always
Filled in the gaps in the story of Roger beautifully. Magnificent as usual. I never tire of the Jamie and Claire saga. Wish it could go on forever.

disappointed with this one
Would you try another book written by Diana Gabaldon or narrated by Robert Ian Mackenzie?
overall the plot is reasonably workable it makes relative sense and you can see where it would work in with the larger books stories but it lacked the regular magic her usual books. I was very disappointed with the ending as I felt that it could have gone deeper and ended better. I was disappointed on a whole with this as it seemed to be rushed and didn't flow to well in comparison to her usual work. I feel like it should have been longer and more in depth, however I did see how it linked in and the sense it made to write it but I feel that it was stagnant in the pool of order and it held no excitement , a bit like background music whilst shopping.
What will your next listen be?
another novella in the series
How did the narrator detract from the book?
the narrator was quite dull in comparison to others but he was bearable.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
disappointment.
Any additional comments?
As a fan I feel I would like to know more about each character's story in depth almost like a mini novel on their own , to know their story and become part of their life. I feel that this could have been done as the basis for a good story is there and there was a lot more needed to be said but I felt it was rushed and I would love to know more about Roger's story.
