About this listen

A Passage to India is one of the greatest novels of the 20th century. This enthralling tale takes the reader to India amid one of the most exciting eras of history. During British Imperial rule, India was changing and so were the people who lived there. E.M. Forster opens up a whole new world of exotic landscapes, misunderstandings, and passionate love affairs.

When Adela, a British school teacher, and her companion travel to India, they set out on an adventure of a lifetime. While in the company of the charming Dr. Aziz, Adela decides to explore the mysterious Marabar Caves. What begins as a stunning journey into the real India, a misunderstanding ruins the entire trip and threatens to destroy the honorable reputation of Dr. Aziz. A Passage to India is a tale as timeless as love itself and just as exciting.

Although a classic of its time, this novel is ruined by the dreadful narration. It seemed that the narrator was reading it for the first time - the intonation and rhythm were frequently wrong. Very frustrating.

Dreadful narration

The narration sounded very robotic. Shame Audible can’t get something better for such a beautiful book

Beautiful story but shame about narration

The story is good but the tone of reading is sadly not so good. Another reader needed to do this book justice i think

Poor reading

The voices representative of the characters. Great story line. Interesting take on India and our colonial past.

the conversation

About the worst narration I’ve ever heard. Butchers a classic! Very disappointing as it’s a wonderful story but it’s like listening to a computer generated voice stringing random words together without a pause.

Terribly narrated

A wonderful story which brings India and society at a dynamically changing time to life. The narration is a bit expressionless which is a shame but listen anyway
