determined to do better
How often is it that a Prince is honestly so determined to write his own future, to change the status quo and challenge the rule of royalty in his determination to do better that he actually walks away from the constraints and capricious nature of the Royal Court that despite the desperate need for change refuses to see it?
The Prince in this story walks away from all he's been brought up to know after experiencing the world outside of the court, he understands the privileges he's had being funded by his position as a Prince and has put it to good use learning all he can, and in this he discovers his determination to change things and do better by all people. So he choses love over expectation and claims his own future.
Virginia Ferguson was a fantastic choice for the narration of the Queen, but I think although a short story it would have really benefited from dual narration, maybe bringing Jim Spring back from other books in the series to narrate the story from the prince's perspective.
