About this listen

Shortlisted for: Crime & Thriller of the Year – Specsavers National Book Awards 2012

Duchess of Cornwall Close: sheltered accommodation, a mix of bungalows and flats, newly built and not quite finished. Despite the bitterly cold weather, elderly residents are moving in. Then, one snowy night, an old lady is murdered - dragged from her bed and strangled with a length of flex. DCS Simon Serrailler and his team are aware of bizarre circumstances surrounding her death, but keep some details secret while they desperately search for a match. All they know is that the killer will strike again, and will once more leave the same tell-tale signature.

Then Simon's former sergeant, the ever-cheerful Nathan Coates, tracks down a name: Alan Keyes. But Alan Keyes has no birth certificate, no address, no job, no family, no passport, and no dental records. Nothing. Alan Keyes does not exist.

The seventh in the best-selling Simon Serrailler series, A Question of Identity is Susan Hill's most thrillingly imagined crime novel to date.

Brilliant!

I am a fan of Susan Hill's Serrailer novels. They are beautifully written, intelligent and gripping - psychologically accurate with complex, totally believable characters. The side stories of the Serrailer family whic run alongside but are separate to the thriller plot line make these truly literary novels and not confined to the crime genre.

The reader is excellent.

A very satisfying continuation of the series

I've followed all the books in this series featuring the thoughtful and aloof detective Simon Serrailler and am glad to say that his latest book is excellent. A satisfyingly complex detective story enhanced by the well-rounded characters whose lives thread through all the books. I think one gets more from the series if read in chronological order for, although their back-stories are eluded to in this book, one gets a greater sense of the evolving lives of the characters who populate all the books. The reader is first class

Just being brought up to date with Simon, his love life and his family, with, once again, a very enjoyable story.

Good Read!

Struggled with the first few chapters as there were so many characters and families but it all came together well. I very much enjoyed it and can certainly recommend it.

Another winner.

Gripping tale with plenty of sub-plots. I'm completely hooked on her Serailler series. By now the Seraillers feel like family!

Well constructed

Lots of avenues to follow to keep interest going as the story continued on its way. An excellent book with a clever title.

Brilliant Serrailler

Another brilliant Serrailler story from Susan Hill that I really couldn't stop listening to. What I love about this series is the mixture of characteristion that is sometimes reminiscent of PD James and the familiarity of the lives of the extended Serrailler family. Steven Pacey has the perfect voice for this series too. If you have never listened to this series start with Book 1 - I'm envious of all you've got to look forward to !
