A bit cringey

I made it to chapter 22 of this book before I had to stop listening, the plot is predictable up to this point (maybe there is a later twist but im not going to find out), the characters feel like they were written for an incel fan fiction (especially the lead character) and the fact that the author has up to this point twice referenced knowing a woman was turned on due to her “erect nipples” made me cringe so hard that I nearly snapped my neck.

The performance from the reader is fairly decent, I struggled telling some characters apart when they were in a big group setting but given the range of accents and characters he had to voice I feel he did a pretty decent job.

This will probably do for some background noise but if you want something to focus on while doing mundane tasks and you’re actively listening I wouldn’t bother.

Great start

Excellent start to a hopefully long series. The story can unfold in so many different streams and the specific banishment story between Abraham's gods and Pagan gods is something I've never encountered before. The characters are easy to engage with and have depth. I am eagerly waiting for the next book.

Ok but audio broken on 2-3 chapters

A little disapointed because the audio broke fo about 2-3 chapters that forced me to miss on some if the story. Overall an ok book to lisen to.

Generally good.

I enjoyed the story but found the narration difficult. Accents were not great and could have been more comfortable in narrators' own voice.
The story had some interesting elements and seems very well researched. I disliked the volume of sex scenes, which I find off putting. Also, whilst not detracting from the story, I feel it may have been better set in Europe rather than having Celtic, Norwegian, and Middle Eastern mythology moving to US.

I love Tristan Morris as a narrator. I first discovered this book because of him, I like to stick with the narrators I like. Unfortunately this book wasn't for me. The concept was a great idea but the author failed to deliver to my satisfaction, to much sex, detracts from the story.

Decent read, but nothing special

I like the story just fine. Especially liked the more adult take on the Hero's Journey. But I liked the narrator better than the story and am not tempted to keep listening, since the next one isn't free. It is good enough though that had it been free, I would most likely had kept listening.

Not original, but definitely worth your time.

I enjoyed this audiobook and will be looking out for the next one in the series. Overtones of the Iron Druid (maybe just due to the subjects though), although the story itself has a pretty decent plot, and skips along nicely.
If you don't get bogged down with the accents (the purportedly Welsh character sounded more Middle Eastern), then the performance is a good one.

Good plot spoiled by gratuitous sex scenes

Narration generally good (although some of the accents made my eyes water).

The plot is well conceived & gripping, characters well formed & the prose smooth.

Sadly the authors penchant for numerous & detailed sex scenes really put me off! I'm not a prude, but neither did I sign up for reading one of those Mills & Boon-esque fantasy romance books. It all ends up feeling a bit tawdry...

Good story

the story is good, though the Welsh God having a bad Scottish accent is annoying and frustrating. Scotland and Wales are different places.
