About this listen
New York Times bestselling author Robert Dugoni’s thrilling series continues as Seattle homicide detective Tracy Crosswhite is plunged into a case of family secrets and murder…
“Another outstanding novel from one of the best crime writers in the business.” --Associated Press
Called in to consult after a young woman disappears, Tracy Crosswhite has the uneasy feeling that this is no ordinary missing-persons case. When the body turns up in an abandoned well, Tracy’s suspicions are confirmed. Estranged from her family, the victim had balked at an arranged marriage and had planned to attend graduate school. But someone cut her dreams short.
Solving the mystery behind the murder isn’t Tracy’s only challenge. The detective is keeping a secret of her own: she’s pregnant. And now her biggest fear seems to be coming true when a new detective arrives to replace her. Meanwhile, Tracy’s colleague Vic Fazzio is about to take a fall after his investigation into the murder of a local community activist turns violent and leaves an invaluable witness dead.
Two careers are on the line. And when more deadly secrets emerge, jobs might not be the only things at risk.

slightly less gripping than usual
crime storylines not as captivating and a tad less believable. but worth it for the development in the characters' personal lives . still good but perhaps the weakest of the series so far

brilliant
this series of books was made to be listened to. Emily's audio performance made reading the next book addictive. what will I do now that I've finished them?

Favourite so far in the series
Loved this from beginning to end. Held my attention, plenty of interesting characters and an unexpected plot twist. Really enjoy Tracy Crosswhite series but this was probably my favourite of them all so far. Brilliant narration as always. Can't wait for the next adventure!

Another excellent book
I do feel that the main characters are my friends, and I enjoy their different characteristics and their fears and joys.
The story line was well handled and very interesting, I also like the fact that there are often two stories running simultaneously in Mr Dugoni's books. Another well satisfied reader here!

Good read
I enjoy Robert Dugoni's books but he uses the word said far too much. Unfortunately I knew who did the murder almost immediately in this story but it was a good read.

Great story
Wow. Another fast paced and dynamic story in this ongoing series. I love these characters and each book brings us more into not just their jobs but their personal lives now too. So happy the way this book ended was absolutely perfect. Great narration too

Oh crikey!!
Loved the story but what I didn't like was the so-called Indian accents that she was doing. I loved listening to her narrating the crosswhite series right up until the prior book, but when she did the Asian accent in that book, just how bad it was going to be didn't show up quite so until this book!!! I kinda didn't say anything about the *Archibald* character for book five as it was only a couple of lines really and maybe it was an off day for her!! But I can't remain "silent" any longer!! It was horrendous and the Irish accent wasn't any good either!! Sorry but this book just didn't sit right with just how awful the accent was!!
