Summary
A billionaire heiress walks into a bar....
When Fiona Merrill finds herself without a date on New Year’s Eve, the frustrated New York socialite takes matters into her own hands. After way too many glasses of champagne, she propositions the familiar bartender with an offer he can’t refuse. But the handsome, Brooklyn-born drink-slinger turns out to be a lot more than she bargained for.
Chris Ballard lives with his mother, biding his time until he can save enough money to completely renovate his crumbling farmhouse in upstate New York. An opportunity for some quick cash is a no-brainer, and with the amount of money Fiona offers him, he is eager to agree to her scheme.
In a world of have and have-nots, posing as the next Manhattan power couple is the easy part. Things become challenging when Chris dares Fiona to go deeper than what her pampered lifestyle offers. Is it possible for the heiress to change her ways and discover a bigger purpose? Or will the poor little rich girl continue her selfish ways with only her money to keep her warm?

Amazing
I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story. I loved the way the story, the dialogue, the characters, and the narration came together. The time passed by so fast.

This book definitely had me invested!
‘A Sun So Bright’ is the the third book in the series; although it can be read as as standalone.
First things first, let’s start with the positives. The writing was solid and I really loved how the book was structured. I also loved the narration. Narrated by the author, I felt this was a positive for the book as the author was really able to fully capture what I describe as the characters’ ‘essence’; basically, how the characters were supposed to be like, act like, and even sound like. I definitely felt the emotions with the narration.
I think where this book fell short for me was the unlikeable heroine. Even though she changes and has some growth by the end of the book, she was soo awful at the beginning that I personally found her irredeemable. There was just so many things she did and the way she treated others at the beginning, that I found her unforgivable. Plus, a few things she never fully took accountably for, nor did she apologise for those things at the end. Ultimately, I’m a very character driven reader, and although I don’t expect my MCs to be perfect (far from it), I just felt that for the heroine in this book, I just couldn’t fully root for her.
Also, her growth at the end and her rearranging her life felt unbelievable to a certain extent. The 3rd act conflict felt too flimsy for me to believe that was the catalyst for her to completely become a good person, considering how awful she was at the beginning. I appreciate growth as a character, but this growth didn’t seem believable. Plus, she only seemed to want to change for this relationship and for the hero. Which makes it not seem real to me, in that she would completely change her ways for this man (she barely knows). Even if she did, it’s not a healthy thing to do and her growth all relies on this relationship (like, what happens when they fall on hard times, will she revert back to her self pre relationship?)
Speaking of the hero and their relationship, they had some chemistry, I’ll give the book that. But, It didn’t seem believable they would completely fall for each other under the circumstances. They barely spent time together by the time they’d decided they wanted to fully commit to dating for real.
Also, the hero constantly complaining about her wanting to spend money on him didn’t make sense. I get it’s supposed to show us he doesn’t like her just for her money. But, it didn’t make sense considering she is supposed to be literally paying him to pretend to date her. Especially as she’s a billionaire socialite who is around luxury and the type of her friends she has. Like did he really expect to turn up to her upscale parties in his working class clothing gear? I mean, this woman is buying you nice stuff, stop complaining and enjoy it.
With all that said, even with all the negatives I found in the book. I still mostly enjoyed it because it kept me intrigued to find out more. I was for sure invested in how the heroine would turn out, the overall romance and storyline. Even the plot with the hero’s mum and her health problems was interesting to me. And for that, I give this book a positive tick. ☑️

Brilliant Story
What happens when you have all the money and not have to think about surviving but it is a lonely at the top.
The story follows the life of Fiona. Fiona is a socialite and after trying to find a date to an event and failing she decides to get drown her sorrows she plots a plan to ask the handsome bartender to help her out.
Chris is just doing his job and in she walks, after talking to her over the course of the night she proposes that he becomes her date for a function and after that all hell breaks loose
I love this author and this story does not disappoint, the characters were great together and the story flowed brilliantly. The reader was passionate and added to the emotion of the flow to the story. As the story goes along you see into the relationship and understand that Fiona is looking for love but can she trust Chris with her heart.
I can't wait to listen to the next book in this series.

Bright
New Year's Eve Fiona agreed to go out with her friends. Fiona just wants a boyfriend for a while so she's not alone at events and outings with her coupled up friends.
Chris is the bartender who gets her that last glass of champagne before the clock strikes midnight, could he be the boyfriend she is looking for.
This book is full of love, romance, tears, and heat.

Hearts
This is such a sweet romance story. From glitz to the glamour to been a socialite. What happens when Chris is asked to be her boyfriend and hired Fiona wants to show him off. I enjoyed the character development in this book it takes a while to get into thier progress with a slow start. Once you get over the slow start you really get into the story.

Great audio book
Another wonderful audio book from this author. As with the previous one in this series I really enjoyed listening to A Sun So Bright. The characters were great although it did take a little time for me to warm to Fiona I did eventually and the plot was definitely romantic. The narration was good again easy to listen to and it definitely seems to go faster than the 7 plus hours it is playing for. I like that I’m able to just relax and listen to a story this way.
Overall great story and a great audio book – I would definitely recommend!

This was so cute!
This was such a cute read! I really liked the male role in this novel! I think normally writers are lead to believe women want to read about a rugged, rude and dominant male but I enjoyed how he was so secure with himself but was patient with her! Would definitely recommend!
I also really enjoyed the princess and the pauper take it had and how we're so consumed with what society says about us. Also, i think it's interesting that her friends are the judgemental ones, despite them coming from a family that is 'well educated'. I think it shows a lot about that phrase and how being of high class doesn't mean anything if you're not a nice person.
