Summary
"Brother, do not try to follow me once you have read this. No good can come of it..." When Clifford Fox QC receives a desperate letter from his estranged younger brother, Simon, he departs his comfortable Yorkshire home to locate him. The letter outlines the harrowing events that have led Simon to the very edge of sanity.
Following a stint at the Brentwell Rehabilitation Unit, failed architect and recovering alcoholic Simon is invited by an old school-friend to Abbot's Keep - a Tudor residence, nestled deep in remote Berkshire countryside. Soon after arriving, he is left to explore the neighboring monastery ruins and discover the house's dark history. But the more he learns, the more certain he becomes that he is not alone at Abbot's Keep, and that nothing is as it seems. But can he stop the house's medieval past repeating itself one final time? And can his brother find him before it's too late?

YIKES!
Not your "run of the mill" ghost story. 😱 Well written, with a perfect narration. Excellent story for these dark autumn nights.

Old school mystery ghost story with modern horror.
Old school mystery ghost story with modern horror. Reninscent of M.R. James' stories and storytelling qualities of a 100 years ago, with a far more modern backdrop and modern explicit body horror, but not too much of the latter.

Scary
Harrowing story well told and wonderfully narrated. It stayed with me for a while after I had finished it, as a good story should. I thoroughly recommend it...but not at night.

Loved it! For fans of M R James / quiet horror
Short and sweet with a satisfying pace and ending, I'm a big fan of quietly chilling British ghost stories and it's probably one for those who enjoy the same, great narration and very spooky conclusion, happy to have stumbled across this!

great ghost stories have flaws
loved this ghost story, loved the way both the writer and narrator carried the story forward.
and it's not often we see stories with unlikable characters whom we still route for.
and Simon is a very unlikable flawed charecter
