Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Take a journey to a vanished world with the Adventures in Time series - stories so exciting you won't believe they're all true.
Everything was ready. The air was thick with excitement. This was D-Day....
Prepare to enter the most dramatic conflict the world has ever seen, as historian Dominic Sandbrook takes us on a spine-tingling, heart-stopping adventure. We witness the Second World War first-hand through the eyes of ordinary people living in extraordinary times, from the women who worked all night in factories to the chess players who cracked unbreakable codes. Because in total war, no life is left untouched....
The Adventures in Time series brings the past alive for 21st-century children. These stories are every bit as exciting as those of Harry Potter or Matilda Wormwood. The only difference is they actually happened....
This series is perfect for all listeners who enjoy tales of heroes, villains, battles, escapes, codebreakers and a secret agent known as the Hedgehog.

WW2 and The People
I must firstly say I am a fan of Domonic. That being said this is is a potted history of the war. it can be no other at only 8 hours long. But he touches on very personal stories of the war. taking some liberties of dialogue and how people felt. But all said with great humility and cander. He covers a the wars, both European and Eastern and the reasons for the start of each. If you want an enjoyable and interesting this is for you.

An intelligent & widespread overview of the war!
Stand out element was Hirohito’s attitude near the end which was a revelation rather than the frequently offered view that he was the peacemaker!

Fantastic
Well written and produced. Lots of really interesting stories of ordinary people and their war experiences set against the back drop of the great historical figures and battles. Told sympathetically but factually without shying away from anything. Would definitely recommend.
