Summary
WELCOME TO SAFE HAVEN, POPULATION 907...
Nestled in the woods of Wisconsin, Safe Haven is miles from everything. With one road in and out, this is a town so peaceful it has never needed a full-time police force. Until now...
A helicopter has crashed on the outskirts of town and something terrible has been unleashed. A classified secret weapon programmed to kill anything that stands in its way. Now it's headed for the nearest lights to do what it does best. Isolate. Terrorize. Annihilate.
Soon all phone lines are dead and the road is blocked. Safe Haven's only chance for survival rests on the shoulders of an aging county sheriff. And as the body count rises, the sheriff realizes something even more terrifying—maybe death hasn't come to his little town by accident...

Loved it!
This was the most spectacular audiobook reading I've ever listened to. The story was gripping, well paced and truly disturbing. I was waiting for Santiago to bound out of the shadows whilst listening to it at night. This is the first experience I had with the author, I'll be going straight into Trapped, next.

Zombie army
A small town is attacked by 'red ops', and only a few manage to defend themselves. Can't say too much without giving away plot spoilers.

Afraid
What made the experience of listening to Afraid the most enjoyable?
The Story, the characterization and the narration. All brilliantly packaged into one suburb piece of audio enjoyment. The story was so captivating, I could really Imagine every piece of detail whilst the story was being told. I found the story to be very gripping, gruesome, yet very enjoyable and I really felt some empathy for the characters, I felt that I could connect with them and feel what they were feeling. That is what I found crucial in any story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Afraid?
All the gruesome bits defiantly. When all the bad guys were hunting down the characters, the things they did to them, and all those grizzly details. Yeah that stuck in my mind a lot.
What does Phil Gigante bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
His voice. The tone in which he spoke in to emphasis key points in the story, the change in voice to distinguish from the characters. Brilliant, he really has a way of drawing the listener into the story and the world in which the story takes place.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book has a lot of emotion built into it. The first time I listened to it I was camping in Canada, in this site surrounded by wilderness, and I can say the story did freak me out a little in places. It was brilliant!
Any additional comments?
I have listened to this book several times, and each time I enjoy it better than the previous time. Possibly my favorite book I have bought so far.

and so they all lived happily ever after. Oh lordie.
well let's face it. if it's not a spooky old empty house it's the mad scientist when it comes to extreme horror and this was extreme. It's not for the faint-hearted or the squeamish. It's predictable in places but powerful and pacey all the way through. Fran's a bit of a do-gooder and reallyt irritating but well drawn and well created. There's probably a lot of truth in trhis book and a huge amount of info dumping but done in a good way that keeps the listener inthralled right to the very end. Still they all appear to have lived happily ever after and the bit about the monkey near the end is a mite unbelievable and the fact that the two brothers both die is wimpy I have to admit that much but if you like your hard core horrors with some compassion in them then this is a darned good book to read. It's not too long either and the naration is good as well.

Fantastic narrator. First audiobook that truly gripped me due to the performance.
Fantastic narrator. First audiobook that truly gripped me due to the performance.
The story I'd very fast paced, which really lent itself to me. It's plenty dark, with some genuinely frightening moments.
a blast.

Afraid be very afraid... :)
You know when you pick up a Klborne that it's going to be gory, visceral and keep you up at night. But it's also going to be fun! I've enjoyed a few of his novels and short stories and each one is different but you do need a strong stomach.
So we have Red Ops, a quaint small village, a dog a monkey and the mad scientist.
It's got twist and turns plus a few surprises that I didn't see coming.
I did enjoy Trapped more but this runs a close second.
Narration was excellent and I particularly liked the fire bugs voice.
Well worth the money.
It sure is a bumpy ride :)

Started well, quickly became very silly.
The only thing that kept me listening was the narrator, who kept things lively and made the personalities of the antagonists distinctive and entertaining. The title of this review sums up why I was disappointed with this book, explaining in more detail would probably spoil the listen for people determined to give it a go.

Too gory.....no story!!
Managed to get to chapter 5 by fast forwarding through the gory bits... I'm sickened and bored by the aimless torture and killing. Wasted purchase as I can't find how to exchange or return this book. I prefer scary horror books with suspense and mystery...more of a creature feature fan...very disappointing!
