Ali a universal figure
A great podcast. But I think missed some
key facets. Ali as a world figure. Maybe Americans recognise him as a patriot.
I like many non Americans view him as citizen of the world who could walk anywhere in the world and was adored by everyone. I loved the anecdote when he was confronted and then went to a meeting with a group of Vietnam war vets. Ali was about reconciliation - but he critically recognised that true reconciliation required not just bridge building but mirrors and he held up a lot of mirrors on racism, war and
Injustice. We can’t have real reconciliation without social and economic justice - that’s not about retribution but a better shared future for all humanity
