About this listen

'SPIKY, WITTY' PANDORA SYKES

'FUNNY, PACY’ GUARDIAN

'CHAOTIC, SNARKY, VERY FUNNY' GOOD HOUSEKEEPING

'AN ABSOLUTELY WILD RIDE' INDEPENDENT

Maybe having a few enemies on the school run means you're doing something right…

Florence knows all about failure. After a dismal end to her 2000s girlband career, she’s moping around West London, single, broke and unfulfilled. The only things she’s proud of are her increasingly elaborate nail art choices – and her ten-year-old son, Dylan.

But when Alfie Risby, Dylan's bitter class rival and the child heir to a frozen foods empire, mysteriously vanishes on a school trip, Dylan becomes a prime suspect. Florence has to get her act together, find the missing boy and clear her son’s name or risk losing him forever. The only problem? She doesn’t have any detective skills, she’s not exactly popular at the school gates and she’s just found Alfie’s backpack hidden under Dylan’s bed…

All the Other Mothers Hate Me is an irresistibly witty novel about fitting in, starting over and the lengths we’ll go to for the people we love.

Great story, great characters, great narration. The only disappointment is that when I searched this author, there was nothing else listed for her.

Excellent

Good story very well read however either I’ve listened to too many stories like this one or it’s just predictable because I worked it out quite early on.

Maybe I listen to too many

The main character is not realistic at all. The whole story is quite ridiculous but the mystry did keep me ready to the end. I just felt that I hated the main character- every decision she made was always the worst one and so the entire book you are frustrated by her, Just found I didn't really care much for her.
Really don't know why some books are plugged in the media so much while other gems are lost

Not worth the hype

Superb writing, bitingly hilarious. Especially if you have any experience of the London prep school scene. 100% recommended.

Always a treat when I see stories set in my local area code. As a mother, the school life (pta experience) was very close to home. Lots of funny moments but a lot of mystery which I loved. Still some unanswered questions but I get it.

Enjoyable mystery
