About this listen
Another outstanding crime thriller from the highly acclaimed author of Tall Oaks.
Raine sometimes complains that nothing exciting is ever gonna happen in Grace, Alabama, again. Daddy told her careful what you wish for.
Everyone loves Summer Ryan. A model student and musical prodigy, she's a ray of light in the struggling small town of Grace - especially compared to her troubled sister, Raine. Then Summer goes missing. Grace is already simmering, and with this new tragedy the police have their hands full keeping the peace.
Only Raine throws herself into the search supported by a most unlikely ally. But perhaps there was always more to Summer than met the eye....

Great story badly narrated.
this is my third Chris Whitaker story and it did not disappoint. Its a mix of suspense, family relationships and mystery. however I found the narration very irritating and this irritation made the story difficult to follow at times. just read the story, not every character has to have a voice!
I would of enjoyed this more reading it rather than listening to it. it is still a great story.what I like about his writing his how he brings all the strands neatly together at the end. very satisfying.

A wonderful story, beautifully read
This was unputdownable! I am suffering this morning because I eventually finished listening at 02:24 as I just couldn’t switch it off. Chris Whitaker’s characters come to life and I really cared about what happened to them, especially Noah, Purv and Rain and Black. It will keep you guessing to the end. Brilliant.

Extraordinary
I don't know how Chris Whitaker does it. His creations of small town, rural, blue collar America and the characters he populates them with are extraordinarily compelling. There's a depth, sense of real lived experience, and richness to the capsuled worlds he creates that is breath-taking, giving they spring from the imagination of a young non-American writer based in a country town in the south-east of England.

My least favourite novel by this Author.
This audio dosent come close to previous novels by this Author. There are way to many characters in this novel which made it difficult to follow the plot and who was who in relation to the plot.

Bored already
Monotone narration, and a "story" that just rambles on and on and on. Dragged out to the point of pointless and where I just wanted to yell, "GET ON WITH IT. I DO NOT CARE."
Gave up after chapter 10.
Might try to finish it one day, just not today.

Rambling and confusing
I tried to battle on with this but the story was too confusing with too many characters being introduced. it was also bleak and depressing with a lack lustre narration. I decided after a few chapters that I had wasted enough time on it.

Awful narration
My second Chris Whitaker book, loved the first but really disliked this one. Narration was the worst I have heard and very hard to get past it. Also, a little too many characters. Disappointing to say the least.
