About this listen

Finding out you’re a princess destined to stop a war sounds great, until it actually happens.

Amasai Rising is an enchanting young-adult coming-of-age fantasy novel set in the Kingdom of Aythia. Azlana is a half-human, half-elf princess on the run, forced from the only home she has ever known and shouldered with the responsibility of uniting men and mystics. But an ancient darkness has taken hold of Azlana’s mind, flooding her thoughts that horrify her.

Can Azlana defeat the darkness? Or will its hold on her prove fatal for magic and mankind alike?

Good story excellent premise

A good story with a excellent premise. The young lead character is very good. It is the first in the series so most of the novel is building the world and therefore there is a lot more of the tale to be told. It ends on a bit of a cliff-hanger I enjoyed the story and think it will develop into something special. The narrator is good but her voice is not to my taste, a little too breathy for me. Still I look forward to the rest of the series. I received a complimentary copy form Storyorigin and am leaving a honest voluntary review

An interesting start to this series

This book is very clearly the start of the series. The plot does not really progress much but there are a lot of interesting elements that are slotting into place. It is almost as though Stevie Rae Causey wrote this book to create the backdrop for an epic fantasy adventure and to set the characters and events in motion.

Overall I found the book very interesting but also a little melancholy. I think that is a combination of the writing style and the narration style but the melancholy vibe fit the events in the book. In fact the story left me with a lot of questions about what would happen next which, I suppose, means it was successful in achieving what it was meant to do. I am curious to see how the author will weave the various threads of this book together in the remaining books. It has a lot of promising potential!

Compelling start

I enjoyed this compelling start to a new series that I think is going to be a be a mix of 'coming-of-age', world-saving, fantasy and action-adventure story. I was a little lost at first, because the story felt like it was already started, but the world- and character-building soon caught up. I am enjoying the female lead, Princess Azlana, and it's clear her journey and struggle with the darkness is just beginning. Looking forward to the rest of the story.

The narration was clear and there were no flaws in the recording. Good variation in voice for the different characters.

pulls you in

Loved this book. The detail is key here in how the world was created around the charecters. Really pulled me in. Intrigue is created rapidly and Im actually desperate to hear the rest of the story soon. Narrator does a great job too.
