If only "Ripping Yarns" hadn't already been used.
Excellent tales of 'daring do' from Thermopoly and the 300 Spartans, Rorke,s Drift, Dien Bien Phu through to Appollo 13 and beyond a thoroughly riveting account of heroic people and the sacrifices they made without complaint or second thought cleverly interwoven with the stories of Shackleton and Scott of the Antarctic permeating the whole book.

ONE FOR THE MEN
This book isn’t quite as I was hoping but it is definitely the right book if you enjoy the history of battles. It is excellently narrated and Neil Oliver obviously knows his history. It can be gory at times but that is expected with this subject. Sadly it was not for me but never-the-less I did finish it as I love to listen to Neil Oliver. I can thoroughly recommend it if this subject interests you.

Neil Oliver’s is the perfect voice.
This tale of manly men is so far removed from the woke ministries of the current age that it almost seems like a fantasy novel collection. I believe that this should be required reading in primary schools to stir the emotions of boys, many of whom have no masculine role models of their own to look up to. A brilliant book and a great read by the author.

A great listen
Neil Oliver obviously understands the youth of middle aged men, his accent fits the reading, especially when he is quoting poems or speeches. The tales are a good reminder of what we were fought a man should be or aim for. A good listen, reminding me of a carefree youth that the current children will never know.
