Summary
Set in a fractured United States, in the southwestern country now known as Texoma. A world where magic is acknowledged but mistrusted, especially by a young gunslinger named Lizbeth Rose. Battered by a run across the border to Mexico Lizbeth Rose takes a job offer from a pair of Russian wizards to be their local guide and gunnie. For the wizards, Gunnie Rose has already acquired a fearsome reputation and they’re at a desperate crossroad, even if they won’t admit it. They’re searching through the small border towns near Mexico, trying to locate a low-level magic practitioner, Oleg Karkarov. The wizards believe Oleg is a direct descendant of Grigori Rasputin, and that Oleg’s blood can save the young tsar’s life.
As the trio journey through an altered America, shattered into several countries by the assassination of Franklin Roosevelt and the Great Depression, they’re set on by enemies. It’s clear that a powerful force does not want them to succeed in their mission. Lizbeth Rose is a gunnie who has never failed a client, but her oath will test all of her skills and resolve to get them all out alive.
Performed by Colleen Delany, Robbie Gay, Carolyn Kashner, Marni Penning, Dani Stoller, Bradley Smith, Kimberly Gilbert, Jessica Lauren Ball, Harley Gordon, Michael John Casey, Yasmin Tuazon, Stephon Walker, Mort Shelby, Rose Elizabeth Supan, Nanette Savard, Scott McCormick, Laura C Harris, Tracy Olivera, Cameron McNary, Sasha Olinick, Dawn Ursula, Alejandro Ruiz, Tim Getman, Ryan Carlo Dalusung, Lawrence Redmond, Chris Davenport, Ken Jackson, Nathanial Perry, Deidra Starnes, Jessica Lefkow, Elizabeth Jernigan.

Ginnie Rose Excitingly different
Eli and Paulina come knocking and request Ginnie Rose protect them . The crew had recently all been shot and killed and Ginnie or Elizabeth as Eli called her was the only one left . It transpires her father , who had raped her mother was related to the tsar and his blood was precious. They were looking for her sister whose blood matched . Would she go when she was found . I think Eli and Ginnie are a good match but the can’t be together . Her adventures get her into dangerous territory and she herself is raped . Intruiqing story mixing the Wild West and Russia . I love these dramatisations but miss the input of Mick DePinto although , Colleen Delaney and Scott McCormack always add a bit of magic to any tale

Fast pace
I love Charline Harris and this did not disappoint. Great fast pace story that tied up all the lose ends.

Story is ok
The story was quite interesting and I like audio productions with a full cast. I didn’t like the main narrator’s whiny voice, with its drawl and upwards inflection. I found it hard to warm to the main character- possibly because I found the voice so irritating.

Gripping, and pretty bloody, Western meets magical realism
Great story, enjoy Charlaine Harris's style of 'down to earth' magical realism with a feminist under tone.
First 'Graphic Audio' book have listened to: mostly enjoyed sound effects bit sometimes they were too loud and I found they distracted from what the narrator was saying. I probably prefer using my imagination to having these background noises.

Gripping and addictive
It starts off somewhat slow and normal. Then gets into the exciting world of magic and gunny. Enjoyed this as a change from my vampire books.

Make way for a strong female lead
Lizbeth Rose is a gunnie in a western-type of world and has a fearless reputation. She decides to guard two russian magicians travelling to Mexico in search of a man with special blood. But someone wants their mission to fail... really bad.
Graphic Audio productions are the best. I enjoyed the story, but I think it was made better by all the gunshots and background ambience. Gunnie Rose is a good main character, and her passion for refrigerators will take her far!

Great to see dramatisation
Due to severe dyslexia I never read books I only ever listen so I’m delighted to have a different type of format I thought some of the sound effects were not quite up to previous dramatisations I’ve listened to by the BBC but thought the story was brought to life brilliantly and have a listen to it on talking book and on the full dramatisation I have to say the dramatisation was brilliant and really Increased my enjoyment of the bookSo great the graphic audio did such a good job and fantastic to that Charlene Harris would let her books be dramatised like this and wonderful having them availableOn Audible

Interesting
I normally listen to audiobooks to learn about something, but this surprised me by creating a whole world in my mind. The story is interesting and you just want to know more as the story develops.

Couldn’t finish it
There is nothing wrong with the story it’s the constant background music which drove me mad. It’s a shame ruined it for me.
