An Echo in the Sorrow is a 118k word m/m urban fantasy with a gay romantic subplot. It is a direct sequel to On the Wings of War. Listening to the first book in the series would be helpful in enjoying this one.

This series is an instant must read as soon as the latest edition is released and An Echo in the Sorrow does not disappoint in any way! From the plot (in this book and overall series arc), the characters, the action and drama that constantly keeps you on your toes, you're grabbed from page one right through to the end. This is a book/series that has to be read in order due to the ongoing series story arc.
There is a lot going on that has Patrick and Jono have to contend with -the Dominion Sect, the rival god pack, Patrick getting arrested for murder, hunters, demons, Gods constantly coming through the veil, as well as Sage and Marek's wedding that is coming up and the appearance of Ashanti at the end of the previous book. It's fast paced but Hailey's writing does not miss a thing, drawing on the smallest detail
Lines blur between Patrick's pack and his work, impacting what protections he can offer whilst at the same time a civil war spills out onto the street between his and Jono's pack and their rival pack, Estelle and Youseff. Those two will go to any lengths to keep their grip on the city which leads to disastrous results for those involved.
I cannot commend Hailey Turner enough. The world that she has created is vast and includes so many characters, packs, and gods. If not read close together, I think it takes a moment to recall who everyone is but it doesn't take long to dive headfirst into a fantasy world full of drama, action, fear, excitement and what seems a never ending journey for Patrick to pay his soul debt. I know this will be coming in the next and final book of the series. I agree wholeheartedly with another reviewer that it will be bittersweet as we come to the end of Patrick and Jono's journey but every single moment with the characters is worth it. Soulbound is one of my favourites to read and listen to and I cannot recommend it enough.
Gary Furlong's narration has been on point the whole way through this series and he has never failed to give his best performance, providing everything possible to Patrick and Jono's story. He's cemented himself as one of the top narrators, especially in this genre.

This book is the sixth (and penultimate) in the Soulbound series, starts with Sage trying to wrangle the pack mates into preparations for her and Marek's wedding. As usual, though, the gods and the pack's enemies are not content to let them just get on with things. It continues directly after the action in On the wings of War, with the action and pace being just as relentless.
This book is brilliantly done, Gary Furlong does an amazing job throughout. Another hit.

This is a story that will tear and rip at your heart and leave you begging for more. There are some brilliant characters that were just so beautifully written and well thought out.

This series just gets better and better, but sorrow is definitely an operative word for this volume. Lies and deceptions have come home to roost and Patrick and Jono must deal with their consequences at just the time where they need be unified and as strong as possible. The next and final book promises to be a real page turner and heart ripper if the plot threads in this one are any indication. I cannot wait! Gary Furlong gives an amazing performance here. All the emotions you hear are spot on.

This is one of my favorite series and every new adventure of Patrick and Jono is a must have for me. Of course a narration by Mr Furlong was an extra specially after loving so much the ebook, with his amazing performance, charismatic voice and acting skills. This book 6 was more angsty than usual and the intricate plot got me at the edge of my seat the whole time. I loved how with every new installment on this series, the author shows us how good is in creating magical worlds. A new adventure in the series! Loved it!

With every book in this series, I think, "It can't get any better than this." But it does! More struggles, more surprises, more twists, more friends, more enemies. more gods, more packs, more successes, more failures...more of everything that makes this series so addictive. I won't say anything about the story itself, because you'll want to listen for yourself, and spoilers suck, but there is plenty of action, angst, friendship, passion, danger, and...demons to keep you enthralled. I am so eager for the conclusion of the series (only one more book!) because I want to see how everything works out in the end, but I will hate to say goodbye to Patrick and Jono. Regardless, it is going to be a long, hard wait

The narration by Gary Furlong is fantastic. He captures the snark and sarcasm of Patrick (and others) perfectly. The pacing and delivery is spot-on, too.

How do I write a review this far into the series without giving away spoilers? This is the penultimate book in the series I think and things are getting plotty and detailed. This one follows on almost immediately after book 5. There's a great blend of different myths and legends that the author uses in their epic story. The relationship between Patrick and Jono has developed over the 6 books and feels solid and secure no matter what is thrown at them.
I'm looking forward to doing a complete series listen through just before the final book releases.
