About this listen
An Amazon Charts bestseller and finalist for the Harper Lee Prize for Legal Fiction.
Inside a prestigious law firm, a rookie lawyer is pulled into a dark maze of lies and violence.
An ambitious Stanford graduate, David Adams has begun a fast-track career at Austin’s most prestigious law firm. It’s a personal victory for the rising superstar - a satisfying reversal from his impoverished and despairing childhood. Now he has the life he’s always wanted: An extravagant salary, a high-rise condo, a luxury SUV, and no limit to how far he can go in the eyes of the top partners.
But after the shocking suicide of a fellow associate - one who, in his final hours, offered David an ominous warning - he feels the pull of powerful forces behind the corporation’s enviable trappings. The suicide leads unexpectedly to David’s discovery of a secret enclave of the city’s homeless, where he can’t help but feel an affinity to these outcast souls. Nor can he ignore the feeling that they hold the key to the truth behind a dark conspiracy.
When one of his new street friends is murdered, David’s clear doubts about his employer start shifting into a dark reality. Now torn between two worlds, David must surrender all that he’s achieved to fight for a larger cause of justice - and become his firm’s most dangerous acquisition.

“A deftly crafted legal thriller of a novel by an author with genuine knack for a reader engaging narrative storytelling style…”—Midwest Book Review
“A gripping thriller with a heart, An Equal Justice hits the ground running…The chapters flew by, with surprises aplenty and taut writing. A highly recommended read that introduces a lawyer with legs.”—Crime Thriller Hound
"In An Equal Justice, author Chad Zunker crafts a riveting legal thriller…An Equal Justice not only plunges readers into murder and conspiracy involving wealthy power players, but also immerses us in the crisis of homelessness in our country.”—The Big Thrill

Intriguing drama touching on important issues
I enjoyed the mixture of cultures represented in the rich lawyer lifestyle vs. the street life. The characters draw you in and I felt myself piecing it together as the mystery unravelled.

Short but sweet
This wasn’t the authors best work, but it was adequate to pass the time. I enjoyed the narration.

I’ve given up
The first few chapters are not particularly engaging, I find the writing clunky. I nearly gave up when the woman came to the door wearing a 'white dress with heels' it took me a moment to realise that SHE was wearing the heels.
When, on their FIRST date, she complains about his car and insists that she take him to a dealership where he can buy a new car, then he agrees to buy a car for $85k I just couldn't go on any further, he is now being taken to a Realtor so that he can get an apartment! All this after the first couple of weeks at a new job, so he really hasn't got job security nor has he any common sense as he has no money in his background, and he is struggling with his first job!
I am at screaming pitch with this book..... I can take no more!
To top it all, the narrator has a very droning monotone, which I could perhaps tolerate if there was anything worth hearing!
