Summary
This program is read by longtime series narrator, Kathleen McInerney.
"An exceptionally engaging audiobook, delivered by a masterful narrator.”—AudioFile on A Simple Murder
Chief of Police Kate Burkholder investigates the brutal death of a young Amish man in An Evil Heart, the latest installment of the bestselling series by Linda Castillo.
On a crisp autumn day in Painters Mill, Chief of Police Kate Burkholder responds to a call only to discover an Amish man who has been violently killed with a crossbow, his body abandoned on a dirt road. Aden Karn was just twenty years old, well liked, and from an upstanding Amish family. Who would commit such a heinous crime against a young man whose life was just beginning?
The more Kate gets to know his devastated family and the people—both English and Amish—who loved him, the more determined she becomes to solve the case. Aden Karn was funny and hardworking and looking forward to marrying his sweet fiancé, Emily. All the while, Kate’s own wedding day to Tomasetti draws near...
But as she delves into Karn’s past, Kate begins to hear whispers about a dark side. What if Aden Karn wasn’t the wholesome young man everyone admired? Is it possible the rumors are a cruel campaign to blame the victim? Kate pursues every lead with a vengeance, sensing an unspeakable secret no one will broach.
The case spirals out of control when a young Amish woman comes forward with a horrific story that pits Kate against a dangerous and unexpected opponent. When the awful truth is finally uncovered, Kate comes face to face with the terrible consequences of a life lived in all the dark places.
A Macmillan Audio production from Minotaur Books.

Not disappointed
I have not been disappointed with any of her books. I have thoroughly enjoyed them all. The storyline in each book had me sat on the edge of my seat, and couldn’t wait for the next book. I certainly enjoyed Kathleen McInerney’s narration. I think you have to have listened to them all to appreciate each character. I can’t wait to see if there is another book in the future.

Love the books but…
I’ve been reading this series for a long time and I always look forward to a new book being released, I thought this time I would try the newest book on audio so I could listen while I drive and potter around. However I just can’t get past the robot like narration, I’m not sure if it’s intentional to the story but every time she put on an accent of a different character it sounds so stilted and it sounds like she’s talking with a full stop after every word. It’s so off putting that I stopped listening and downloaded the book in the end.

Strange narration
I've haven't listened to much of this so far but have to say that the narration is really strange. It's really putting me off, Each word is said as if there's a full stop after it, it just doesn't flow at all. I'll try it for a bit longer but will return if I can't get used to it. Should have listened to a sample but I've listened to other books in this series and didn't notice it before.
