About this listen

An English-language debut that reveals and subverts contemporary conceptions of normative sexuality, capitalist culture, and environmental degradation.

Farah moves into Liberty House - an arcadia, a community in harmony with nature - at the tender age of six, with her family. The commune's spiritual leader, Arcady, preaches equality, non-violence, anti-speciesism, free love, and uninhibited desire for all, regardless of gender, age, looks, or ability. At 15, Farah learns she is intersex, and begins to go beyond the confines of gender, as she explores the arc of her own desires. What, Farah asks, is a man or a woman? What does it mean to be part of a community? What is utopia when there are refugees nearby seeking shelter who cannot enter?

Emmanuelle Bayamack-Tam delivers a magisterial novel, both a celebration and a critique of innocence in the contemporary world.

Contains mature themes.

Love wins all (A Teenager Story)

I love how even though, this is a coming of age story, it's from such a unique point of view. I have used many of Arcedis quotes in my life before reading this. So i loved the approach to everything with love and beauty. As a pansexual, polyamorous person, i support this lifestyle very much, so i felt connected.

I felt that it was a little over analyzing with some terms and some details of all the characters. I feel the book is the same without knowing so many details about some characters, and maybe focusing more on the characters we care about, would be more interesting.

Overall it was a fun read. I think it's mostly directed for younger ages and i would also suggest it to my younger friends, but not as great for people in their 30s like me. And for that reason i would rate it at 3.5/5

ps: The voice over was exceptional.
