Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Years have passed since the clash of shieldwalls echoed across the land. The Saxons are now the lords of Britain. And yet the bards still sing of Arthur - 'In our darkest time, when we need him most, shall he come again.'
Yet old Beran has no love of bards' songs. Nor of people, unless they are paying him to steal or kill. He is a mercenary, in the employ of the cutthroat Nabor ap Nabor, and he has been ordered to murder a boy fleeing a burning city. No ordinary boy either. No, this boy is the son of King Constantine and the grandson of High King Ambrosius. And he could be the hope of Britain...if he lives.
Betraying his companions and returning to a world he thought he had left forever, Beran gives his word that he will take the boy to the one place that still holds out against the Saxons: Camelot.
Crossing a hostile land, they will meet the runaway lovers, Tristan and Isolde. They will seek the help of Guivret, called the Little King, and the Saracen, Palamedes, who once rode beneath Arthur's banner.
Hunted by Saxons, Nabor ap Nabor, and Queen Morgana, this unlikely band must fight for their lives and for each other. For if there's to be any hope for Britain, Beran must deliver the boy to Camelot. But to do that, he must also face his own past...
Critic reviews
'The best re-telling of Arthur's legend I've read . . . Giles brings Dark Age Britain to life in a way no one else could. He touches all your senses, from the sight of a rook in flight to the smell of Britain's rich earth. Every bird, tree, landmark or hilltop painted in vivid colour for the reader as they travel through the Dark Isles in the midst of legends of old . . . bloody and glorious, and very well done.' (ADAM LOFTHOUSE, author of Ravensworn)

Great follow up and finale to Lancelot and Camelot.
Firstly, don’t compare this to Bernard Cornwell’s Arthur Story. They’re both spectacular in their own way. This final story had me gripped from the start. By the end of the story I was riding the highs and lows of Arthur’s journey and Kristian nails the ending. Throw in Tristan and Isolde and he tells their story and their end which had me close to shedding a tear!! A great version of the Arthurian tales.
Read and enjoy.

I wanted to,listen to the end so I knew it. But I didn’t want it to end ..
Giles writes such amazing words. And Philip Stevens reads it with such passion and the two blend togeather beautifully
Being 73 and not have brilliant sight. I could actually see this amazing story. This world of Arthur

Excellent
I own all three books in the series as physical books but I also have them as Audible titles, and the books are excellent so my review here is for the narration, and thankfully the reader, Phillip Stevens does the books justice with a perfomance that is simply superb. I've no doubt that I'll revisit these books again and again thanks to the audiobooks.

Old Bear’s just drowning memories
Another page turner from a master storyteller, it’s been four years since Camelot and it was worth the wait, quality writing that takes you right into the heart of the battle and completes the Arthurian Tales series,

Great dual timeline offers new approach to Arthur
I really loved the unique take on the Arthur legend, the dual time line was superbly handled and allowed us insight in this take on Arthur’s motivations and character. Great stuff. I genuinely love love love Giles Kristian’s unique voice, his evocative and flowing prose, but there were times in Arthur where his use of adjectives seemed to run riot and overtake the storytelling. It actually detracted from my ability to suspend disbelief and kept intruding into my engagement with the story. There was also an overuse of certain stock phrases to describe warriors. By the time I came to the end I just didn’t want to hear God of War or Lord of War ever again. Having said that it’s still a great listen and I would recommend it, but perhaps not as much as some of his earlier work.

Felt Immersed In The Store
Not wanting to give the story line away but it’s not often you get such a gripping tale of the final part of the Arthurian legend, I guarantee you will be immersed in the tale, coming from a completely different angle and very well read with feeling
