About this listen
Charles Henstock, vicar of Thrush Green, is living in his new vicarage after the old one burned down. In its place are eight retirement homes, but there’s heated debate in the village about the new residents. How to choose who will live there? How will they get on together? And how will they accommodate all the pets?
Meanwhile the old residents have their worries. At the school Miss Watson learns that her brother has had an accident; an argument flares up between Edward Young and Dr Lovell; and Dottie Harmer becomes dottier by the day.

I do find it amusing that some of the school children are like Peter Pan. George Curdle must be quite old by now but he’s still in the infants class. In her Village School books Joe and others must be in their mid 40s but still at primary school!
Beautiful book, like a hug in book form

Miss Read doesn't disappoint, the story of the everyday going's on of Cotswold country folk, beautifully narrated by the late Gwen Watford. I love the way the author has made the characters so interesting. Very gentle reading at it 's best.
Most enjoyable.
