About this listen

I continue to be a student of The Language of Recovery and agree with the Greek philosopher Heraclitus who said, “No man ever steps into the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he is not the same man.” Change is the only constant in life, and each new experience we should be treated with compete awareness, curiosity and full engagement. This being the case, I have rethought the order of the key strategies presented in the original edition. As you listen, you will see how the revised order gives a more solid foundation on which to build a productive and meaningful life.

As I was recently explaining how these key strategies work as method of approaching life, an individual with tears in her eyes said to another family member in the room, “What I want for Christmas is a picture of these key strategies framed.” After a brief explanation, she was able to clearly see how they applied to her individually and how they gave her a basic understanding regarding some of her recent behaviors. It was Einstein who said, “If you can’t explain something simply enough you don’t understand it well enough.” I have come to believe that the simpler one can explain something the better it will be received.
