Such a enthralling story and the performance really gave it the justice it deserves.

Excellent

It’s a good story and brought back a lot of memories from playing the game all those years ago, just a different way of playing through I guess, from what I recall. I enjoyed it though!

Different to how I played it!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I fired this one up. But I was very pleasantly surprised. A good listen, well read, and performed well for the most part. Fleet has a very interesting style and made it easier to decern characters.

Unexpected Gem

if you played and loved the BG computer games then you'll be disappointed at the character adaptation in this book.

poor characters

This was quite a fun listen made all the better by the enthusiastic performance by the reader. If you like the game and can accept that the book won’t 100% live up to them then it’s still worth a listen. Not a masterpiece by any means but a fun listen.

A well performed version of one of the best games ever made.

Just not very good, it takes a good story and removes all the best bits and the characters are just annoying with no redeeming features... First book in years I've given up on.

Disappointed

The narrator does a good job with a limited story. This has only the basics of the original story and has a major departure from the game (or at least if you know the start of the BG2 game). I am about half way through and so far the main character is unlikeable, Jaheria has been torn down from a strong willed female character to a near stereotypical damsel in distress, and I am sure I am reading a Mills and Boon book based on how much of the story is about Abdul, abdahl, Adel (not sure which is right as all are said in the reading) letching over Jaheria. She is now just there (so far) just to be a busty love interest and a 2 dimensional female character who screams and moans about everything and is nothing like the character I respected in the games. I am sure if this was a TV movie Jaheria would be wearing nothing but a bikini shaped "armour".

Mills and Boon

the book seems to be written by a twelve year old kid.. the story is bad and all over the place with no Flow nor any Connection to the characters

waste of time

I honestly can't believe how bad this book is. Baldurs gate is a fantastic game/world and it's absurd that someone made such a total ass biscuit with so much narrative gold to work with.

Awful awful attempt at a brilliant game

Baldur’s Gate, the computer game was truly a great game with an engaging story and a plethora of fascinating characters, that as a rare exception to the genre would have loaned itself to an equally excellent novel. It amazes me that with so much narrative gold, a dreadful mess of a story has been created by the author. Two dimensional characters are order of the day. Jaheira one of several strong female characters in the game is reduced to a needy, witless damsel. The main character is unlikable and the narration jumps almost randomly from scene to scene.
The narrator tries his best, but his heart obviously isn’t in it. This is exemplified by the changing pronunciation of the lead characters name from Abdhul to Abdel to Abdal.
An unfortunate waste of an opportunity… save yourself the heartbreak of witnessing the defilement of one of the high points in the dungeons and dragons legacy reduced to this drivel, avoid this audiobook.

Terrible Novel
