Summary
Nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, Thrush Green is normally a peaceful place. But as autumn turns to winter, feelings are running high in the village. Miss Fogerty, a respected teacher at the village school for over thirty years, is troubled by the methods of the new young teacher. Dotty Harmer takes up driving, much to the concern of others, and it isn’t long before she is involved in an accident and a threatening court case. And when the good rector innocently suggests that the neglected church-yard should be tidied up, Thrush Green is outraged.
It seems wherever you look there are difficulties and changes, but as spring arrives, there is renewed hope that all will end well. Read by Gwen Watford.

Another lovely story
As always, such an enjoyable story of the Goings-on at Thrush Green. Beautifully read. The characters are so well depicted, too.

Wonderful as ever..
Miss Read is a genius amongst writers. Taking us descriptively to a place of rural calm and comfort.
A blessing to escape to Thrush Green and be amongst the many endearing characters and goings on of every day country life.

I envy you
If you are reading this review because you have never read Miss Read's Thrush Green books then I envy you I wish I had them all ahead of me unread to enjoy afresh. You will be transported to a gentler world by her text,
"The little valley leading to Lulling Woods was shimmered in the spring Sunshine. Somewhere a lark was singing…"
and yet be impressed but the reality of her characters and they way they battle with their difficulties in this story. Enjoy! Oh and Gwen Watford is the perfect narrator.

Thrush Green is my safe haven.
Thrush Green is the peaceful, happy, safe place to which you can escape in times of hardship. Whenever I want to relax and unwind, I listen to a novel by Miss Read and I immediately feel my worries and stresses melt away. Miss Read's writing is the most soothing and therapeutical I have ever read. Most recommended to truly everyone!

Comfort Reading!
A neglected churchyard, a newcomer at the village school, upset about a bed jacket, mumps, and the passing of the seasons with all their beauties. This is life at Thrush Green. Miss Read writes quietly no churning angst no twists and turns of plot. But instead characters with quirks and kindness dealing with everyday life, with a warm charm.
