A fascinating backstory to how Victoria came to be born, let alone Queen, due to the untimely death of her cousin Princess Charlotte. Although the book begins with the Prince Regent's wedding and ends, for no discernible reason, after the birth of the Princess Royal, it is an absorbing listen.

I really enjoyed the book. It had lots of new information and facts that I did not know and that are not stated in other books I have read. narrative was great different voices for different characters made closing my eyes and listening a pleasure.

Only downside was that the booked skipped every now and again and things were missed but couldn't skip back because unsure how much had passed this made parts of the book not make sense.

I found this book well narrated, a little long winded in parts, but it filled a gap in my knowledge of English history. In fact it only deals briefly with Victoria as a Queen, but at length about how she came to the throne at all, a circuitous route indeed! Very pleasant to listen to, informative, a good "read".

A book entitled 'Becoming Queen' with a portrait of Victoria lead me to believe that the book would be an insight into the personality and times surrounding her. I liked the book, fortunately, which meant I didn't mind around half of it being devoted to the life of another young woman whose early death meant Victoria became queen. In essence - a reasonable book, well narrated - but not quite what it says on the tin.
