About this listen
Behind the Shine is a nonfiction book that I wrote in seven days and nights, and it tells of the many trials and tribulations I personally endured in my life journey that were designed to hold me captive or in self-pity, such as being raped as a two-year-old child, abandonment, disenfranchisement from my family, being orphaned at a tender age, surviving war, molestation, and being a homeless person who once lived on verandas of a welding place called Tinsmith, as well as churches and bus park verandas. The book also talks about false accusations I endured and the aftermath; betrayals, misdirection, losses, and spousal abuse, among other things. All these things could have or should have knocked me down to the point that I would have given up on everything, but instead, I refused to live in self-pity. I rose up and decided to move forward, let the light of God in me shine, and become an icon of hope.
The book is designed to reach out to people who feel overwhelmed with life, have lost hope, or are drowning in self-pity, to rise up, dust themselves clean, and use those adversities as ladders to be the best of themselves and icons in their own generations.
