If this is the final book of Cornwall from Winston Graham I am sad to leave this family as Ross Poldark has become a friend to me his trials and tribulations,his enmity with George Warleggan and love for Demelza and all common people is something that everyone can empathise with...YET ANOTHER REALLY GOOD READ.

Brilliant listening at night - narrator’s voice very soothing when you can’t sleep and story is fantastic.

This is the first time I have read 12 books in s series and in such a short time. I first bought the book, then bought the next three. Seeing that it is not like many other series but was able to keep the same level, I bought the next 8.

I am literally in love with Demelza and Ross and thanks to O. Hembrough who gave life to all characters

Despite the books being published from as early as 1945 and as late as 2002 I found them remarkably consistent. I only wish there were more. I think my favourites would be 'Ross Poldark' and 'Black Moon'. Book 11, 'The Twisted Sword' had some tragedies for our heroes and I hoped that the main characters would survive intact in the 12th and final book 'Bella Poldark'. It isn't the best of the series but is probably better than 'Stranger from the Sea' and equal to a number of others. It had its moments of peril, the ape story was a bit far fetched but so what. The ending wasn't at all dramatic but was gentle and appropriate leaving the remaining Poldarks to carry on their lives.I absolutely loved listening to the whole of this series and wouldn't change a thing...well perhaps Francis and his fate in the mine but Winston Graham knew best.

I read the Poldark novels in paper form many years ago and positively drowned in them. Winston Graham's writing is exceptional. I've now finished listening to all 12 audio versions of the books and feel bereft and uplifted at the same time. The narrator of this series, Oliver J. Hembrough, is a narrator of exceptional talent. He manages to nail not only the many varieties of Cornish and other accents, but also gets the pitch and tone right for every character. The audio experience makes you feel you're living alongside the many fascinating characters. Now that I've finished listening, I miss them all. I know without doubt that I'll be listening to the series again in the near future, as these books are compelling. I love the way the author weaves the story into actual historical events, such as the Napoleonic Wars and the eventual downfall of Napoleon. This series is the finest example of historical novels that I can think of. Utterly faultless, and I cannot praise the novels, or the narration, highly enough.

Just as Bella received her rapturous applause for her efforts on the stage, in the same vain I came to the end of the book feel the same sense of "more more we must have more".

This book was really enjoyable maid even better by the commentary which is excellent.You learn to tell the voices of each individual so easily and reconfigure French national accent in French! I love the stories but I do love the cmmentaries.

Sad to have listened to the last of this amazing series of 19th century Cornwall but oh my, this one wasn’t my best choice for bedtime relaxation ! Very complex and at times, aggressive plot. Farewell dear Ross and Demelza Poldark! I shall miss your company and very well narrated too. Thank you.

I have been totally captivated by the entire series of 12 books in this fabulous historical cornish drama and I am so sad that this has now ended. Winston Graham was an excellent writer, who wove an extensive cast of characters across many generations, all of which were fantastically portrayed by the very talented Oliver J Hembrough. I have avidly watched both of the televised Poldark series and the fine detail and description in these 12 novels have enhanced the whole experience for me.
