Summary
A hitman must be anonymous, amoral...and alone.
Victor is the face in the crowd you don't see, a perfect assassin with nothing to live for.
But when an old friend turns to him for help, he finds he can't refuse. For once his objective isn't to kill but to protect.
Hunted through the streets of London by ruthless enemies, Victor needs to be more than just a bodyguard...but his every move leads danger closer to the very person he's vowed to defend.
Published in the US as No Tomorrow.

Another gem from Tom Wood
Another story with Viktor as the main character. Really enjoyable and you are always wanting for the villains to be caught. Great narrator too which helps keep you interested.

Listened to this audio book in one go!
I really enjoyed this story and the way it was read. The 81 chapters got hold of me and I couldn't put it down! However, the nearer the end the more swearing. So it is not something you could listen to 'out loud' without upsetting you're neighbours by mistake. The "c"pops up too.
When I was showing a group of friends my tablet and Audio Book App, I found myself apologising when I got caught out with the swearing off hand.
This was a shame. I didn't know the words were coming up! This day and age I suppose I should have realised, but the reading started out ok, and the 'baddies' had to speak this way to be tough it seems. It was a shame though as I would have given it 5's otherwise if it had not been for the strong language popping up from the middle to the end.

A stunning masterpiece
Any additional comments?
There is not much more I can say about this audiobook that my title has not already covered. The 'Victor the assassin' series has swept me away and kept me highly entertained beyond any of my expectations.
I am thoroughly disappointed I have come to the end of the series, now I will spend the rest of my days searching for other audiobooks that can potentially deliver so much happiness to my poor soul. I feel bereft. Like an alcoholic with no access to liquor. Like a hula without the hoop. Like a bean that wasn't made by Heinz. A monster without the much. My list could go on...
Buy the book. Buy all 4 books in the series, work your way through as I have done. then maybe I can be joined by more people in sharing my grief in finishing sharing adventures with Victor the assassin, until his next book at least.

Seems to have gone off the plot
Having listened through the first three in the series I had developed a fondness for John Mitchell. The character was well defined and his back story and sub plot of the main narrative were intriguing making me want to continue. I'm not sure where Tom Wood was going with this book as he seemed to rewrite the past and loose what I felt was a good running theme. All in all a good read, gritty and hard hitting, but ultimately a let down for a fan of the series.
