Hunting a killer is scary. Talking about your feelings is scarier. Dashiell Dawson Dane is certain the universe is conspiring against him. After all, things have been good—almost too good—for way too long. He’s got a great group of friends. He’s writing regularly. And things with Bobby seem like they might, maybe, possibly be moving beyond friend territory. It’s all so good, in fact, that it feels like the setup for something truly catastrophic. Not to mention, it’s the weekend before Valentine’s Day. So, when Dash and his friends visit Shipwreck Shores, a local amusement park, he’s not terribly surprised when he stumbles across a body in the fun house. The surprising part comes when the body disappears before park security—or the sheriff—can see it. And while no one will say it to his face, some people in Hastings Rock seem to suspect Dash is making it up. No body means no official investigation, so Dash finds himself forced into his own search for answers. But the killer isn’t done yet. And Dash’s sleuthing sets the two of them on a collision course.

Seriously, I love this series. The narrator, Andrew Gibson, really makes this series shine. He reminds of Michael Lesley, another fine talent.
Dash has once again found a body, or maybe he did. Who knows! It disappeared. Of course it did, Dash. Did you really think the body would still be there when you and authorities returned? Nope, I surely did not. 😁
Ahh, it was so nice to return to these characters. I missed them.
Dash with his seeming desire to become murdered because he just can't stay out of it. Bobby with his forever patience, though I seriously want to smack him on the head for not speaking his mind. Tell Dash HOW YOU FEEL!!! And Dash, SAME!!
Fox, now this was a twist. Fox is being pressured to move in with their partner. To me it should be pretty easy, you either want to live with someone, or you don't. Me, I like having my own space so that would be a "never" for me. Fox struggles with this in very dramatic fashion, in the dark btw, and I found it entertaining for sure!

Keme, he spoke more which was real nice. He's like the straight man to this merry gang.
Now Chester, a new addition and hopefully a continuing one. Super props for the [Ace representation!! Woot! Woot! (hide spoiler)]. Seriously sweet guy who needs to get out of his parents' house. They mean well and are super supportive. But they are very much trying to marry off their son, haha.
The murder mystery, I was very interested in learning the who and why. I was kind of stumped on this one. Since I suspect everyone I wasn't surprised. This one was certainly imaginative, though not original it was a great way to continue this series and bring new energy. The bad guys get theirs, and Dash lives to fight another day.
Bobby and Dash. Dash and Bobby. And grr, what was that stupid dating app that Bobby used? Blanking on the name but come on! Bobby, you can do better than that. Just. Speak. The. Truth. I am enjoying the "will they won't they" dynamic. I mean, once they become a couple...huh, I was going to say things would change, but ha, honestly, with these two, they probably will be questioning if they are in a relationship, and then what kind of relationship, etc. Yep, I can see the comedics continuing even after they connect, which I'm good with things the way they are except they need to communicate more! There are so many misunderstanding and hurt feelings, THAT is driving me batty.
All said 4.5 stars for the story (because of the lack of communication between Dash and Bobby; they ARE adults. Right? Right. Right?) and 5 for the narration.

Dashiell Dawson Dane is a bit of a disaster area. Well, sort of. He’s writing words toward…something. He’s got a group of eccentric friends. He’s got someone he’s attracted to who might – might – reciprocate those feelings. So all he has to do is continue on the way things are going and maybe things will stay good, right?
Nope.
Because where Dash goes, chaos follows.
In this case, he goes to an amusement park – in Oregon in February (brr) and…finds a dead body. People are always turning up dead around Dash. Only this time, the body disappears and everyone is questioning whether he actually saw what he claims he saw.
He doesn’t know how to leave well enough alone, and so he keeps going back to the amusement park. And sinking farther and farther into chaos. People are starting to question his assertions because there’s no body.
Dash is determined, though, and with the help of his friends, he launches his own investigation. This time, though, he might be in over his head.
I enjoyed the story – although Dash is quite a character with questionable judgement sometimes. The group of the Last Picks is adorable. The mystery was good. Overall, I can recommend this book. The story is made all the more compelling by Andrew Gibson’s strong narration. He’s just perfect for Dash and his companions. Can’t wait for the next book.
