LONGLISTED FOR THE CWA GOLD DAGGER
______________________
After The Puppet Show, a new storm is coming . . .
Jared Keaton, chef to the stars. Charming. Charismatic. Psychopath . . . He's currently serving a life sentence for the brutal murder of his daughter, Elizabeth. Her body was never found and Keaton was convicted largely on the testimony of Detective Sergeant Washington Poe.
So when a young woman staggers into a remote police station with irrefutable evidence that she is Elizabeth Keaton, Poe finds himself on the wrong end of an investigation, one that could cost him much more than his career.
Helped by the only person he trusts, the brilliant but socially awkward Tilly Bradshaw, Poe races to answer the only question that matters: how can someone be both dead and alive at the same time?
And then Elizabeth goes missing again - and all paths of investigation lead back to Poe.
The gripping new thriller in the Washington Poe series from M. W. Craven, winner of the CWA Gold Dagger Award for best crime novel of 2019.

Washington Poe at his sublime best.
This is a sublime crime story of great cunning of intrigue. Every chapter just increased the tension for the listener. The character development of Tilly is superb and I look forward to the next instalment of this fascinating partner.

Brilliant!
This is the second of the series and my god it was amazing!!! This story was so clever and brilliantly thought out. It kept me guessing right until the end. I loved this book, second in the series. I’d recommend this book/series to everyone!! MW Craven is such a great writer and again Poe and Tilly are great together in this book. John Banks and his narration is utterly brilliant and makes the book so enjoyable.

Wow! Even Better Than The Puppet Show
Washington Poe books are among some of the best I have ever read/listened to. I can’t believe I’ve only just discovered them but I’m so glad I have. I read The Puppet Show and absolutely loved it. So much so I couldn’t wait to get back to it when I was away which is why I decided to get the audio version of this as well as the book so I can listen when I’m unable to read. I’m so glad I did. The narration is superb and brings the story to life perfectly. The writing is second to none and so very clever. Unputdownable and addictive. I’m looking forward to reading the next two and will be preordering the latest. So so worth the money for an absolutely first class read/listen. M W Craven is my new favourite author.

Great Story
This is the second book in the Poe & Tilly series and it's just as good as the first. I love Poe & Tilly's relationship. Tilly is funny sometimes and I found myself laughing at some of her responses. Another brilliant story which kept me guessing until the end.

Great story
Always enjoy these stories. Great characters and a storyline that compels you to listen to the next chapter and beyond. Love the relationship between Washington and Tilly. Also love listening to the inclusion of local Cumbrian towns and countryside.

Peerless Poe
I really enjoyed both Poe novels and crime novels aren’t my usual choice. The narrator is outstanding, the story intriguing and the characters very engaging. I wouldn’t hesitate to choose another story involving Sgt Poe and will be looking at other books by this author.
