Summary

A laugh out loud chick lit/romantic comedy about work, water and wine.

Twenty-seven-year-old Ella Taylor is having a tough time:

Her mum's recently died.

She's been cheated out of a promotion at work.

Her new boss is a Barbie doll who models herself on Gwyneth Paltrow.

She's living in a horrible bedsit.

The hot guy upstairs thinks she's an idiot in a Kermit the Frog onesie .

And now she's inherited a rundown cottage in a hick village with a bunch of conditions attached.

A funny, quirky, and light-hearted British romantic comedy with a bit of a mystery on the side.

Classic chick lit, with a twist

This is an entertaining story about a young woman, who is having a tough time at work and is getting over the death of her mother. Then she gets a classic letter from a solicitor, asking her to get in touch to hear something to your advantage, which turns out to be a legacy from an Aunt and Uncle of an old cottage, but the bequest has several conditions attached which lead to some very odd things happening.

The plot is actually quite original and fun, if rather Bridget Jones - esque. But it really needs editing and tightening up, it could be cut down by quite a lot, which would make it a more involving listen without losing any of the important plot lines.

I would argue with the description of it as a 'laugh out loud' book, there is some humour but none which made me do anything other than smile. The ending was rather predictable as well, I saw that coming from quite early in the book. The narration was done very competently and the voices of the various characters were well done and consistent.

In summary it is light entertainment, which I did enjoy and the addition of the 'Spring of Life' gave it an extra dimension.

Fun and Quirky!

This audiobook is light, funny and quirky though it is a bit predictable. There is something magical about the home Ella's inherits and the people who seem to come along with it. More importantly, there is the promise for more for Ella, which she deserves, despite the onsie!

This audiobook was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
