Summary
London. A newspaper editor is horrifically murdered, his death quickly followed by a series of more brutal and often bizarre slayings. The police are baffled, the only clear link between the murders being a single blood-red rose left at the scene of every killing. Why? What does the rose mean? What connects the killer to each bloody corpse? Scotland Yard detective Alan Winters leads a hunt for the elusive prey.
As the body count rises, Jennifer Chapman, renowned investigative journalist and daughter of the murdered newspaper editor, sets out on a personal quest for revenge. Drawn together in their pursuit of a deadly quarry, Winters and Jennifer unwittingly face a fatal surprise, for the killer is closer than they think.

Good narration
I enjoyed this - not read anything from this author before so was wary. A reasonable storyline although the heart of the book tended to go between a crime novel and a romantic novel! Would have liked a little more character development but made a good listen

Brilliant
Wow, great book and brilliantly narrated. Kept me awake all night, couldn't turn it off. Kept guessing right til the end. Sad there isn't another one to move on to.

Gripping read
From started to finish, the book twisted and turned keeping you engaged. The romance that developed was at times too drawn out and took away from the suspense of the murderer. Ending was brilliant though and I am looking forward to discovering the authors other books.

The beginning was exciting and fast paced but slowed and dragged out a little towards the end.
However I really enjoyed this audio book especially as it was free
The narrator has a nice easy to listen voice.

I found the plot interesting, but the relationship between 2 detectives most unreal and between girl and detectives to distracting. once trust had been broken between girl and detective, too much time spent on self reproach.

struggled early on, its flow, definitely picked up. narration great, gripping in later chapters. enjoyed it far more than expected.

Not impressed
I wasn't impressed by the story. I'm glad I didn't use a credit on it. I wanted a murder investigation instead I got a boring story about an egoistic detective who develops a crush on the victim's daughter. not what I was looking for. I won't be continuing.

A product of it's time
As with other reviewers there are issues with the story, but keep in mind that it is a product of it's time.
A good premise, a good story just a bit old now, but worth listening to on a long journey to keep you guessing.
