Summary

Lightning flashes. Another child disappears....

When Zorka Circus performs, its big top roars with laughter and cheers, but when it moves on, children vanish from the European towns it leaves behind.

Circus security chief Rurik suspects a killer hides among the international performers, but they close ranks - they've always viewed lightning-scarred Rurik as the monster. Nevertheless, he's determined to find the culprit and stop them before anyone else dies and the only place he can call home is ripped apart by the murders.

Into Zorka Circus comes the Skomori clan, despised as gravediggers and ghoulish bloodwalkers. A one-day truce allows bloodwalker Sylvie to marry. Instead, she finds a body. Alerting others will defy her clan's strict rules, break the truce, and leave her an outcast.

When more bodies turn up, the killer's trail becomes impossible to ignore. Rurik and Sylvie must follow the clues - even if they lead to something unimaginable.

Bloodwalker

Jonathan Waters, narration was sooo spot on for this horror thriller. He made me grateful that I listened in the day time. Oh he brought the scare into this book.

We have children are missing, ohh this happens at the same time the circus comes to town. Rurik, the lightening-scarred security guard of the circus, is determined to catch the kidnapper, who he believes is part of the circus. The setting of Romania adds to the creepiness factor.

We have plenty of interesting characters: Sylvie, the bloodwalker- women who care for the dead and prepare them for burial. Rurik's investigation put him back on the same path as Sylvie's and together they must eliminate the evil .

Thoroughly enjoyable

I was intrigued by the synopsis and was not sure what to expect of this story, I was wonderfully surprised at it's depth and the range of characters.

It's creepy for certain and becomes more so as the story progresses, it's a little bit whodunnit too with a crashing finale but an epilogue that delighted me.
