About this listen

Just when Dan and Holly think things can't get any stranger, a terrifying new presence arrives in their community. Faces smudged with ash. Bodies decorated with mysterious symbols. Crude hides for clothing. Weird rituals conducted in the dark of night.

For the small group of refugees in the Idaho mountains, it's beginning to seem like every step forward just gives the world one more opportunity to blindside them.

Things had started to look good for Dan and Holly. They had solar power and more food than they could eat in a decade. They had friends, and they had each other. They'd also finalized some tough decisions that had been hanging over them, so now they had a plan.

Then the weirdos crept into town like fog moving on the breeze. They looked like something that had walked out of a Neanderthal display at a museum. It might have been entertaining if not for the air of primal and unearthly menace that the visitors brought with them. Hiding was futile, and threats didn't deter them because both groups were after the same thing.

But with resources too precious to share, only one party can prevail.

Action packed great read

Couldn't put this down or wait next month for my next credit I just bought them outright. ZOOMED THROUGH THEM UNABLE TO STOP! There were a few flaws which I felt during the 2nd book as well as this one in the Lack of co sideration of emotional condition and psychological condition of a man in a situation like this. He would be hell bent on getting back to his children he would be worried sick. This guy has disappointingly Turned into a pot head and an insensitive prick. I get the insensitive prick thing as my brothers behave in thr same way but the author has forgotten he has kids and there is no way he would be sat around getting high laughing ajd enjoying life knowing his kids could be in danger and in need. In addition to this the boom became a bit cheesy when the phrase 'The way of Dan' kept coming into phrases bring spoken by characters repeatedly which was soooo cheesy and made the book suddenly feel very cheap. You suddenly fall from the bubble they have you in when your hear them speaking the title it's just not a good look. Also found his girlfriend a little unworthy as most thr words that come out her mouth were insults at him not sure I'd have kept her on to be fair might have even packed up and left she was like an abusive partner from the get go. I began to dislike her character due to this but might also lay the blame at the author who forgot to switch on emotion mode of a woman so made her more of a bloke than a girlfriend. These things aside the plot was brilliant abd the action rolled well. went off it all a little bit as they all morphed into a bunch of druggies in the end sat smoking dope, even the cop who didn't even smoke it at 1st. I don't smoke drugs and would t start just cos thr other do so that made her character a little whimmy not to mention her abusive side. sometimes I think authors should get a co writer in who is female to ensure their male mind hasn't left big gaping holes in characters like this.
